got an answer from Landrover , not much use "Landrover never serviced the bearing seperatly"
on my question who made the steeringshaft's the answer was "not allowed to share supplier information"
so , not much help.
the good news is that a replacement column is still availeble : QMB101620

M14x1.5 is 12.5 according to this chart :
-
i seem to have found the one 🙂
from my measurements i have this :
outside 35.8mm or 1.40" (1 13/32") don't know if this is the correct translation
inside 22.2 or 0.87" (7/8" ) this is the shaft size , not the inside off the bearing)
thickness 9.6mm 0.37" (3/8")
and after a long time googling i found this :
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/153998864061
if you scroll down the bottom it state's the size's in inches and they seem to match .
way to expensive , so i keep hunting 🙂

Probably better off just buying a column then as from what I found it was a special bearing not available
or a off the shelf bearing with "speedsleave's" to make them fit .

See the link above mate I’ve been making the bushes on eBay
i'm not in for a DIY bush replacement , i just want a decent bearing ....

so , i'm in the same boat now , while removing the steering wheel from the French donor for the Eurover project , the lower bearing fell apart . so i'm on the hunt for a bearing also ...
i e-mailed https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com to see if they can supply us with the right make and model (or a bearing ...) , not much hope on a decent outcome , but you never know ....

we were the only nutters sat outside.
when we were camping with the 110 and the Oryx trailer , we had people stop buy and ask if we could not sit inside , because we were outside all the time 🙂

It is likely that you have the correct shoes. Some aftermarket makes have the same length linings on trailing and leading shoes, unlike the originals. The defining feature which distinguishes the leading and trailing shoes, is the height of the pin which the adjuster acts on. The leading shoe is the one with the pin lower down the shoe than the trailing shoe. Leading shoe goes closest to front of vehicle. If fitted incorrectly, and or the adjusters are not backed off correctly in relation to the pins, adjustment and or fitting will be difficult.
The details on this link apply to both series and defender 110 salisbury axles.

Hope you get it sorted, regards, Diff.
thanks , that's very informative.
(i didn't have a go at the brakes myself (stuck in the sickbay with knee surgery)) so asked the local garage to have a go at it , they couldn't get it to work so just put the old worn shoes back on ....

None of the land rover style awnings are tall enough our mounting rail is 2.5m off the ground.
Mike
you could mount the pole's to the side off the caravan , that way there long enough , something like this :

seems there are 2 different types of brake shoes : STC359 (for heavy duty axles (over 3050kg and 130's)) and RTC3418 for "normal" vehicles .
these seem to be supperceded with the STC2797.
the strange part is that the brake back plate's have a different number as well AEU2496 and AEU2497 for the normal axle and STC361 and STC360 for heavy duty axle and 130's .
so if the backplate is different , why are the shoes renumbered to the same set ?
could it be that a 3 door 110 has the Heavy duty axle, as opposed the 5 door stationwagen having the normal axle ?
(just had surgery on my knee , so can't crawl under to see the axle number)

if you want canvas , have a look at the Howling Moon brand , very heavy canvas and wel made . also 1 of the more afordable awnings on the market.
i think that flatdog sells these.

How much does your fridge take? mine just 70 watt's. Or go for a dual set up?
the Eurover will get a double setup with lithium , for now a single battery has to do . with the setup i have now i can run my fridge for 2 maybee 3 days and still be able to start without trouble's . (fridge is a Engel MR040)

Hey Gerben,
In the 109 with the 35slt i use a yellowtop 75 amp. Never lets me down.. 900 amp of starting power.
but 75 amps for the fridge seems a bit on the low side .

hello all ,
my LandRover 110 200tdi , is in need of a new battery , it has a winch , and on holidays a Engel fridge .
is the better option a semi-traction (for the fridge) or a start battery for starting and using the winch ..
at the moment i have a 100AH Bosch S5013.

hello all ,
just had a suprise , i needed rear brake shoes for my 1987 110 3 door, sallisbury axle and ordered "RTC3418" these seem to be superceded with STC2797G.
however , these don't fit , the brake material is too thick and the pins for the adjusters don't fully line up with the adjusters .
the brakelining itself is also the same on both shoes , different from what i got fitted (the trailing shoe has less material on the botom)
the shoes are from Ferodo , so a decent brand ....
anybody know what shoes i need to get ?

rear door seals on a 110 are different then a serie's (many say beter) , so you could just use the 110 quarters
there are tailgate's on 110/90 so the seals should availeble.
inside :
wheelwell has a slight step in it , then goes down to match the rear quarter
then attaches straight to the rear panel

it doesn't only happen in england , i'm at home at the moment , recovering from a knee surgeree , and my wife was feeding the birds outside and noticed a box on our frontdoor.
it turned out to be a fruitbasket from work (nice gesture !) , it has been outside at least a full day in the pouring rain .....
i'm at home (never been out the door) and have seen nobody put it there , so they didn't even bother to knock on the door ....
had the same happen with a lot off parcels , being at home and never seen anybody , only to find out on the parvcel tracker that "there was nobody home" , so go collect your parcel from a drop off point.
or they just leave it at neigbours 4 houses away without telling you they did ....

try and find an exhaust manifold if your one goes, cos nobody is going to sell you the spare one they have on the shelf, along with thermostat housings, for christ sakes be careful when you take that off, plus a few other odds and sods

i think the main reason is , people don't complain enough when they have a faulty part . they just swallow it and go on ....
even Britpart come with a 2 year warranty .... but if they don't get recalls on faulty parts , they must asume there perfect ...

Cheers Simon, very helpful. Curious though, whats the difference between that relay and the Victron one (just so I can understand this whole subject better!)
as far as i can see : nothing ....
to be fair , it doesn't charge your main battery first and then charges the second , it connects both battery's when the voltage is above 13.3 volts .....
so it charges both more or less at the same time ..

have a good honest look at the parts when you open it up , a lot can be reused without much trouble . you could just rehone the bore's using a flexi hone and put new rings in them instead of having it rebored by a shop .
if the cam is still good (all the measurements are in the manual) just reuse it and put some bearings in .
(i had my own 200tdi rebored and fitted new pistons , i probely could got away with a hone and rings )
