hi iv been looking at a discovery 2 td5 wiring diagram and found theres an earthing wire running from the starter motor to where the battery earths off to. but when i look at a defender diagram the defender has non from the starter motor. reason i ask is iv put a discovery 2 auto box in my defender td5. but im also putting most of the discovery 2 wiring loom in as well. but whilst studyin the diagrams i came across this. now i have been having a problem gettin the vehicle to start up for the first time since i rebuilt it. its like the engines really hard to turn over . any ideas on both problems cheers everyone for there help so far its very much appriciated. chris

i used them on project you cant even tell there plastic. painted they look the same as the aluminium tops as well. id recomend them

i used some lorry chassis paint on my 110 galv chassis. looks brill and has been on for past 2 years and hasnt come off yet.

hi thanks as always for all your help. iv got a td5 defender with the discovery 2 auto box and range rover classic viscous box. can i still use one of them as an earthing point and i take it the earth going to the gear box is the one from the battery? cheers chris

hi. ill be putting a compushift on it . but i was told i wud beable to run the engine without the gearbox ecu plugged in is that right? cheers chris

hi all iv been tryin to start my project defender 110 td5 up . iv put an automatic gear from a td5 dicovery in it. as iv been trying to start it the engine turns over but it like there not enough power to do it . it seems to struggle to turn over. last night i noticed the auto box x and y switch was touching the bulkhead so i bent the bulkhead tunnel ever so slightly so it wasnt touching. now theres no power going to the engine to enable it to start up. but the dash lights still light up. there isnt even power going to the fuel sender unit. im not fully experience with wiring so any help wud be very apprieciated as ever. thanks for your help chris

hi thanks for reply. iv looked at the diagrams, the only part im going to be struggling on is being able to turn the spot lamps on by a switch inside the vehicle, as well as getting them to opperate when i operate the heam beam switch. i.e id like to beable to turn my spot lights on by a switch when my main head lights are on dip. as well as them coming on when i operate the high beam. if that makes sence. cheers chris

hi all, i'm fitting some spot lamps to my defender project. 4x spot lamps and 2 fog lamps. as regards the spot lamps im want them to be multi functioning. i want them to come on when i turn on the main beam . but also i want to be able to turn them on and off manually as well whether or not the head lights are on. does anyone know of a wiring diagram or is able to educate me on how to wire some thing like this up. thank you very much for your help everyone much apprieciated. chris

hi all. i saw a discovery 200 with 4 point racing harness fitted to the front seats. and was wondering if anyone had done it before on here. if so where did you bolt the harness to and if theres any other pointers you could give for fitting a set it would be much apprieciated. cheers all. chris

hi when ever i do some long distance in my disco 200 tdi for instance from leeds to manchester on the m62. as im changing down a gear after the trip it feels very stiff to change. whether it be up a gear or down a gear. i did drain the box and replaced all the fluids about 3 month ago. anyone any ideas thanks everyone for your help again. chris

hi for the past few days iv noticed a knocking noise coming from under my disco 200tdi . iv been under today to have a tugg at everything to see if anything is loose and found nothing. but whilst under there i checked the props and found alot of play in the back diff. could this be a cause of the knocking maybe? the knockin only happens every now and then . only whilst im driving or taking up drive , driving over bumps or not it still happens, doesnt always happen though like i say. it is mostly when im driving at lowish speeds like 30 or below maybe. anyways i was hoping someone might be able to give me abit of advise or any other checks i could do maybe?? thanks for you help. chris

hi ye the loom worked before and the battery doesnt smoke anymore. my problem now is that theres not enough power to turn the engine over . its starts to turns over then struggles.. the battery is full charged as well. iv earthed the battery to the transfer box . and the live wire to the starter motor. theres also a lead to go to the fuse box. any ideas????? cheers

hi all iv bought a optima red top battery to put on my project vehicle. its a td5 defender . i came to start it up for the first time and the terminals started smoking and the engine struggled starting as if it wasnt getting enough power to crank over. all the wiring has been set up right and the battery was full charged the night before and the wiring is all new as well. anyone have any clues as to what could cause this? cheers all chris

hi i havnt got a chassis number cause its all been bought for a project. the bulkhead loom however is a 2004 onward td5 xs edition. everything is working so far but needs a alarm box from behind th dash. hope this helps cheers for helping out
