hi im trying to find a series land rover for a relative of mine. theyve always wanted one but want it tax exemt. but i think they are going to struggle with the steering. is it possible to put power steering on a series land rover petrol or diesel engines. also what would i need and which way is best to go about it/ . any help is much apprieciated / thanks for your time chris

im starting to get a bit confused. iv got a td5 engine it will be putting out around 200bhp and economy mode is around 160. now im looking at have a discovery 2 auto box , but people are telling me to have a range rover gearbox to be able to cope with the power. whats this all about? few questions what range rover gearbox should be used? would i have to modify anything? what transfer box should i use (if its different)? and out of curiosity why the range rover box in everyone elses opinion? sorry to sound abit dumb . cheers everyone once again.

what engine have you got ? and have you tried talking to ashcroft tranmissionsim sure theyll help you, with explaining and supplying the oil cooler.

id say bolt on bits they supplied all my lights. they where brill.

iv got a defender 110 im building. i want it standard height, but cant decide on shocks. what will the gas shocks do that the standard ones wont. it will be offroading 50% of the time and on the road the other 50%. so what do you all recommend.??? standard height suspension 265/75/16 tyres td5 . cheers chris

hi. started doing the disc conversion on my salisbury rear axle. iv been following the disc conversion on here. iv used the original stub axle from the salisbury axle which im assuming are the same on the forum but when i went to test fit the rebuilt hubs and disc, there seems to be a gap on between the outer bearing and the locking washer when the hub is fully pushed on. anyone any ideas of whats needed. or what i have to do. pleeeeease help , never done this before and everything was going ok till that point. cheers everyone chris

hi the crown wheel bolts are set to be tightend to 135 newton meters. anyone any ideas on holding the diff down whilst tightening the bolts. iv tried two people one holding and the other tightening. just wondered how others do it? cheers

hi does anyone know what the shim thickness should be on a defender 1991 swivel housing. i havnt got the old ones so im having to set it up myself. does anyone know how to set it up if we cant find the thickness it should be? cheers everyone/ chris

no the land rover will pull the girls for me . lol. self recovery. recovering others and just everyday workloads that i might come across. cheers

hi . i putting a winch on the front of my defender project. iv got a choice of either the huskey 8 12v. or the warn 9.5 ti which is the best to use out of the two. and why? thanks everyone cheers chris

whats happend to the bf goodrich km tyres. i dont like the new km2 as much to look at . has anyone tried them. what they like compared to the old ones. any one know where you can get the old ones from. cheers chris

ashcroft are the best. they dont just give you a product and off you go. theyll explain about the product to you, and tell you what you can have, and what youll get. im having a auto box conversion for my td5 defender, from them plus a transfer box. highly recommended.

hi i have or had a 200 tdi defender 110. im rebuilding it as a td5 on . i hve the original power steering box from the 200 tdi. are they the same on the defender td5s. its the 4 bolt power steerng box if that helps. cheers everyone. chris

hi . i may need to change my discovery 200 tdi gearbox. if i was going to do that i hear you can put a 300tdi r380 in which are stronger for offroading and so on. has anyone done this , if so what are the problems im gonner come across. and how can i solve them. iv never changed a gearbox before but im going to attempt to do so, (hey we only learn by doing.) cheers everyone. chris

cheers bud. theres also the odd smell of burning that happens every other day. and today the fuel light came on when there was half a tank of diesel. then when it went away the light went off. any ideas

hey all . iv got a taping/rattling noise happening underneith my discovery 200tdi. it sounds to be on the drivers side. iv been under and really tried everything. but there doesnt seem to be any play in anything. it happens more over bumps. its not always there , so i think i could rule out the possibility of transmissions. any ideas anyone. cheers chris

anyone tried the 24 splne gkn cv joints for defender. will these be ok for my vehicle. it has a 24 spline airlocker and also a chipped td5 engine 200 bhp. will they be suitable for the vehicle? cheers all chris
