as above but i wouldn't use silicone if you go to a friendly screen fitter they can either fit it for you or sell you the proper sealant it's much better than silicone

Hello ppl
Am in the middle of rebuilding me 90 and have thort about moving the rad to the rear.
Few questions i am abit unsure about
Whats the best route for the pipe work?
Will i also have to move the header tank to the rear aswell?
As the 200tdi rad has a oil cooler would it be best to route the oil pipes to the rear aswell or just put a stand alone one in the front?
Thanks yet again.
my pipework runs down the side of the gearbox and over the top of the hand brake drum theres just enough room on a tomcat so should be plenty on a 90
header tank can go any where as long as it's above the rad and engine
for my oil cooler i just got some pipe fittings and a length of copper pipe bent the copper onto a zig zag mounted it in the air flow up front (behind the grille) and conected it to the original pipes seems to work fine

IIRC EP9's draw 450 amps at stall i use 50mm2 which i think only has a contiueos rating of 150 amps but the sparky at work reckond it was enough and i've had no problems with it

you might find the narrow ones are designed to allow bikes but not 4x4s theres was a lane in hampshire that was open for bikes but not 4x4s this was marked up and the gap was to narrow for 4x4s

i've put a RRC 200tdi in a tomcat (disco) and the gauge now reads at the quater mark instead of the half mark did think i had the wrong termostat but the heater seemed fine what your saying now makes sence

300TDi has got a yellow oil cap and dipstick end
200TDi is green.
later 200tdi's had yellow filler and dip stick they also had the rubber head noise cover like others said belts the best way to check

still i reckon you would have trouble pulling one out of the ground failing that why not just rawl bolt a bit of 10/12mm plate down with a hole big enough for a shackle might need to put a bend in it to clear the floor nothing a big hammer won't solve

you could try a motorbike ground anchor use for locking a bike in your garage not tested for pulling but most are very secure ie 4 M10 rawl bolts

something i found when i still had the disco was that part of the windings in the motor had shorted out so if the motor stopped in a certain position it wouldn't start again but if you spun it around a bit it would start fine

when we were out in norway in march we did about 1000 miles on snow and ice at 45 mph but spent the whole time being overtaken often by cars going sidways past you (thats a little worrying i can tell you) but it's when lorrys towing trailers start overtaking you realise you really are going to slow blooby good fun though

sorry to go back OT briefly jules go and have a look at the front spring seats on a disco 2 they have a rubber dislocation cones i know this because i have a set of genuine land rover front dislocation cones on my tomcat so there for i'm assuming that they are in fact legal i don't think land rover would overlook this.
back nearer to topic there are a lot of uk companys selling usa spec tyres (BFG crawlers) which are illegal to sell in the uk (not E marked) but legal to use on the road because they meet the requirments i suspect it's a similar problem with mach 5s
but hey don't quote me on this its only what i've been told by someone with a much bigger brain than me(dosn't take much)

all i can say is bugger my trucks in bits again what with busting my ankle and breaking my truck i haven't managed much offroading this year roll on 2008

for ref the disco 2 front prop is 5mm longer than a 200tdi disco front prop when both are fully closed

i use my tomcat every day but i am a little nutty also i work in a boat yard so suits are not really an issue for me
having said that i'm also a biker so as a back up i've got a bike but i'll fix the truck if i can because bike gear is a PITA just to go to work

i know how easy it is to fix theres no problem there but this engine has now blown 1 head gasket, snapped 3 belts and 1 timing case so i think theres a more serious problem. each time the belts snapped it's only done about 10000 miles and 6-8 months hence i'm now looking for another engine

i had a good day until it all went a bit pete tong in the afternoon first snapped a rear half shaft, then no bugger with tow bar the right hight to tow the club trailer for me. so i towed it back in front wheel drive then 2 miles from where the trailer lives (still on the M27) my cambelt snapped so many thanks to deano for towing me and trailer off the motorway so rich (dlander) could go home and get his disco to tow the trailer back while deano towed me home. not only that but then rich and tracy fed us aswell many thanks
now looks like i'll be taking an engine out this week then
