  1. I would happily go hydraulic but I suspect it will be cost prohibitive. There looks to be winches small enough to fit, PTO drive pump makes the most sense (mine is a drop box so would need alterations). I have some room for a tank under the seat where the winch is but I suspect it would need to be a bespoke tank.

  2. I've got a lot less room than I thought the tray is only 190Dx190Hx680W. I can cut the tray if need be but short of moving the seat I won't get much more height (maybe 210). I have considered converting a husky to PTO but again without buying one I can't work out if it'll fit let alone convert. If it did fit I'd probably leave it electric anyway.

Thanks Mike, that looks a bit overkill. It will go on a trailer, circa 1.5 tons at a guess

Yeah I figured it was, I was just thinking they do the customs thing day in day out. Plus they might have an empty lorry coming back if your not time constrained.

  4. I put the head back on and torqued down, it wasn't till I tried to connect the temperature sender I realized the mistake. Fortunately the crimp was in the bore and it was just the cable and the head gasket that copped it.

  5. In my opinion the only rust prevention that works long term is galvanising. That said it's heavy, can block holes and the finish is rough, but it does get everywhere. Hot zinc sprayed is probably the next best thing as it's significantly lighter (it doesn't pool either) and the finish is ripe for painting, but it doesn't go inside totally. Epoxy etc are pretty much the same as hot zinc spray. Though adhesion is questionable which is best. You wouldn't galv a race car chassis because you want it light and smooth equally a garden gate is perfect for galv, your not worried about weight or painting it.

Galvanising is generally the cheapest to.

I call bull****.  Something else would have been behind it and the rag is too lazy and too unprofessional to find out the real story, going for an easy rant piece that wind up their readers.

I agree there is more to it, but the article states billing refused to comment which doesn't help. I suspect it was something like there was a tip off of a criminal element but it sounds like it was handled badly and will only hurt the show more in the long run.

  7. The one I have in the roof of the ibex is a trailer bungee luggage net, it works well but I had to double up on the bungee cord as the squares were a bit big. The 110 has a cheap eBay special hanging on one side it's good enough to throw coats in but I doubt it would take much more.

  8. Seems a bit extreme, I'd be interested to know the other side of that story. Let's face it the whole billing show turned into a complete mess a few years ago when it got split in two and it hasn't got better. This may kill it for good.

  9. Definitely looks like the head gasket was going. If the engine is a potential keeper then I'd get the head skimmed and checked. If it needs to be back on the road quick or you don't need the expense I'd clean it up new head gasket and off you go. I've cleaned up plenty worse than that and put them back together but I normally need them the next day and I can't afford the extra expense.
