I reckon another arctic circle trip is a good plan, but yes you'd probably have to separate that from the southern leg or it would take months!

    I don't see a problem with it taking months....:hysterical:

If you are keeping standard ISH size tyres then all will be ok.

Anything over 265/75/ 16 tyres then start increasing strength.

Stock axles are fine up to 33" tyres. You can get away with 35's (especially if the rear is a Salisbury) as long as the tyres are just muds and not simex/trep style. At the end of the day it depends how mechanically sympathetic you are, I know people who have destroyed axles on stock road tyres.

  3. I believe the basic swb kit starts around 8-10k but theoretically all you need is a defender and some paint. You can build one for around 25k which sounds a lot until you realise the equivalent defender, galv chassis, fresh paint, cage, suspension, winch etc will probably cost you a lot more and you end up with a bespoke truck that is more capable and suprisingly practical (I daily mine) I was very lucky and found an unstarted kit for sale with quite a lot of bits missing. So although mine worked out cheaper I had a lot more work to do and a pile of bits I had no choice but to buy from foers (they are more than happy to supply parts for older ibex).

  4. The Mk7 is a 300 (118") the same length as mine. The MK1 might be less than 88", I can't remember but it is short. Of course you can order any length you like from the factory from 86" to 146" 6x6 and remember the 300 has the body length of a 110.
