I had a 200 that did similar, what you don't want to hear is it eventually snapped a cam. I suspect the cam bearings had turned thus cutting the oil to the cam. The other thing that backed this up was a flickering oil pressure light at tickover when warm.

Get another bonnet to put the spare on when you go camping? I've always found rear spare carriers a PIA.
Or just take a set of tyre plugs and a pump and leave the spare at home - that and an AA card is going to get you home.
Or a spare tailgate and bolt it to that if you get it right the tyre could rest on the cross member when down at horizontal.

I've seen a 90 like you discribe it was on eBay I think about 3 years ago. It looked kinda cool. It wouldn't be that hard to fab it yourself. But I see no reason why a sheet metal firm shouldn't be able to fold to CAD, template, rough stretch or measurements.

My experience is they don't sell for that much more than the Sankey they are based on. Certainly not what it will of cost.

Turn the hazard switch on and off a few times. From memory the indicators go through the hazard switch so if the contacts get dirty in there nothing works.

The resin would either pickle the paint or not stick to it any better than bare Ali. I glued two strips of Ali (6mm x 50mm x 1200mm) to the inside of my tomcat rear roof to stiffen the sides in way of the struts with sikaflex. It worked very well and never came apart in the 6 years I had the car.

Polyester doesn't stick to aluminium very well and epoxy isn't much better. You can laminate over it with either to encapsulate it and if you put some big holes in it to push the glass down into it works well. The best products to stick aluminium to a fibreglass substrate are plexus (an acrylic glue from memory) or sikaflex with the correct primer. I have successfully used both products. Feel free to prod me for more info.

Posting a thread about it on here helps me. You don't manage anything for weeks then post up the smallest thing (that you don't think is interesting) and suddenly your in a discussion.....

I tend to have the opposite problem. I simply don't have time/space to get on with my projects. However getting out in or using a working one will quite often wake you up a bit.

There used to be an epoxy with metal fillings in it for this sort of thing. Not sure how effective it will be though.

It's very easy to get the belt one tooth out so I would check that again. I've also seen some crank pulleys marked wrong. Have you pulled the push rods or just visual. I would check push rods, rockers and rocker shaft. After that check the cam is moving all the push rods I've had a cam snap and the first three push rods were still moving.

Left field question those that have driven talk about not needing brakes. So do the brake lights come on with regenerative braking. If not I for see a lot of rear end shunted teslas....

On my 200tdi I put a ratchet strap from the bottom of the bulkhead up over the wings then down under the flywheel housing.

Someone has clearly spent a lot of time on it. The welding on the tub is not the nearest but it's solid and it looks like he did all of it. The lid was a massive plus again I would of made it differently but it works. I might make it lift higher and I don't know if it's water tight yet. The tail gate (another big plus) certainly isn't but it's removable and solid. The spare wheel will move to the front as sankey's benefit from a bit of nose weight. It has a jockey wheel which is much better than my last one. Whilst the electrics that are fitted are at least fused all be it only one they leave a little to be desired. I will fit charging from the truck, solar and mains. Oh and it came with a carnex tent that I may end up selling. All in all I'm happy as it didn't break the bank, along with our tipi it will replace the caravan nicely (until I get round to building a caravan) and it just needs a little fettle.

Hydraulic damper hitch won't fit this one it's one of the really early 1950-60s sankeys. Here's a picture of my old camping trailer with the same hitch as the current.

What about rising hinges on the doors so the rubber doesn't drag until the last minute.
