  1. yes done that & in park while cold, just confused with the reading on the stick John
  2. Hello all long story so I'll cut it short, after a front prop snapping at 60mph & flattening the dip sick tube to the side of the bellhousing I had to take it off as I couldn't get the stick out to check the level, anyhow last night I cut the flat section out & welded a new piece in, had to weld the stick back toegther as well as I had cut through that as well . problem I have is I drained the sump & only got 5 ltrs out, re-filled with the same & its measuring above the two little hole marks, does anyone know how much fluid would be left in the torque converter ? Thanks in advance John

  8. only daft if you dont know the answer at the moment I have a set of 31's fitted on my disco & will be changing them for 33's, what I am doing is stripping the 8 layers of paint off wheels 1 at a time so if I was to put a 33 & a 31 on the same axle at the same time what if any damage would be caused ?, will only be driving upto a max of 1 mile. Thanks in advance John
  9. mine & a [palsh done exacly that & they were both the head gasket that had perished in that area, proberbley get shot down for saying this but all we done was change the gasket on both without skimming the head & mine ran fine for 18 month before I broke it for spares & sold the engine to a guy in Holland & last I heard it was running fine, My pal is still using his everey day without any issues. John
  10. Most ECU's (not to sure ref LR) will allow upto 5 airbags to be deployed before needing replacing, here we only fit the items deployed unless method manuals from Thatcham tell us to replace other aprts ie: sensors etc, we then take the vehicle to our local specialist who will plug in & reset, had a look on Thatcham website but no data for a disco of that age. hope that helps John

  19. Believe the term ''camel cut'' originates from the Camel Trophy Land Rovers when they would trim the back edge to allow larger tyre to fit & not rub on the archs in answer to the steering stop yes I have had to adjust mine quite a lot, but that's due to the tyres being so BIG 7 still on standard wheel's, will be changing to modulers soon & mat even change tyres as these are very agrresive (great in the mud though) 235/85 shuold be ok, mine, the smaller one in the photo is a 235/75, as you can see I have fitted extended bump stops & had to trim the bodywork considerably, hopefully get a set of archs fitted soon John
