  3. B reg 1984 csw, just about to start the rebuilt - 200tdi auto conversion 2 + lift cranked arms etc etc, should keep me busy for a bit John
  4. if you go more than 2'' you will gat steering & prop problems, sure a few will be along shortly to recommend different types for different reasons, John
  5. Yes they are steel & think the only way would be to replace the whole roof, not an easy job, done one on a Disco 2 couple of years ago, matbe better if to 'patch-up' if you are any good at fabricating & bit of bodywork after wards, Good luck with it John
  6. So which is better ?, do like the idea of not having to bother with diff lock & do have a spare T/box from a Disco tdi auto John
  7. Not sure what T/box its got but is an F reg if that helps Could I fit a Disco T/box with diff lock ? Thanks John
  8. Pity your not closer, could have poped round & i would of made one up for you John
  9. hi all, Not to sure I should post this here , I am just about to break a RRC 200tdi auto that I am fitting the engine & box into a 90 (left knee shot), anyhow what I'mm not sure of is ---- should it have difflock like Disco's or is it constant 4 wheel drive Thanks in advance John
  10. Hi We put a 200 engine into a 300 a couple of years ago & had to cut the engine mounts of the 200 chassis & weld them onto the 300, every thing else was more or less straight swap apart from intercooler & front pipe but you could swap manifolds & turbo to fit 300 front pipe, not an ideal tempory job though John
  11. Roof is deff welded to the body shell, all doors inc t/gate, wings & quarter panels come off then you are left with the shell, think from memory there are 10 body mounts that hold it to the chassis, once removed you can then get to the chassis top & bottom to do any work & if the shell is on a ramp you can do all the restoration on that before refitting to chassis, BIG job though so good luck with, John
  12. What about adapting one off a Disco rear door , was thinking of doing this so I could carry two spares, one on the rear door & one on the boonet John
  13. Here's one I done earlier replaced with new 'straps'/'cross beams' & then droped new panel in, had to weld a few patches on the sides but no big deal & its better than a sheet of steel as the boot floor is made corrigated for structure & remember that if its got 7 seats these rest on the floor, the rear seat belt anchorages come through & are welded to the floor as well so need to be strong in an avent of an accident
  14. Pretty sure that some 2006 models are late facelift freelander ones & some early 2007 models are Freelander two's & much better IMHO But that said I may be wrong
  15. if you go onto my facebook photos you can see lots of photos of bootfloor welding John http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/album.php?aid=27192&id=1195252230&ref=mf
  16. Beating up John & Edward with a shovel, now theres a thought
  17. Hi Andy, Where are you based ?, I am in the same pridiciment, as I m wanting to put an auto in my 84 90, I have the 200 engine already out of my old Disco, I know some peole have got a 200tdi bolted to a range rover box but unsure if thats ok with the ratios as for 300tdi box I know a standard 300 engine can be bolted to an edc one so pretty sure a 300 box would be ok, so if your like me you are giong to be searching for a scrap 300 auto as 200tdi auto's are as rare as rocking horse poo , Hopefully some one might come along who has alreay done this & set us straight John
  18. Escort or Meastro vans used to have small oblong windows behind the doors John
  19. Whats your plan for the unwanted seats ? John
  20. Brian, just read your list & first thoughts were where do you keep all that, then sat & went trough what I emptied out of my Disco when I broke it & guess what was just about the same no wonder it was sooooooooooooo slow John
  21. Hi Mick, sorry, a bit late getting back to you, but I have 2 tailgates one silver & one yellow & 2 sets of hinges, I am in Birmingham so distance might be an issue for you, if not a £10 gets you what you want John
  22. at least the core plugs are cheap , had an engine in a scraper stored over the winter with no antifreeze in it & that blew two core plugs out John
  23. Hi Mick, where are you based ?, I have a set of hinges you can have for a couple of beer tokens, John
