I measure boost at the manifold and have the wastegate plumbed into the manifold. I then have the turbo fed to the injection pump diaphragm.

I never knew any series were fitted with steering dampers. So thats probably one reason and my dad has already made the bracket!....

Good thing I have power steering then
although it is quite easy to turn the steering at a stand still engine off.... Hope we have got the castor angle right!

M14 or M12 by 1.5 I believe. I bought a banjo bolt for one many years ago but cant find the e-mail now.

Ok...I'm intrigued...whats with the steering damper?
standard fitment on defenders, discos etc.... am I missing the actual question? Fitted coil axles so fitted the steering damper as well. Is it not needed on leafs?

Woooooh! I managed to get home for a weekend in what seemed like forever....
So while I was away my dad knocked this up...
et voila!
Thanks dad
We made some plates to cover holes in the exhaust manifold where the EGR system and lambda sensors used to be. These are now painted and on the car.
I also managed to get the new sump on. (This is the 3rd....) and now I have plenty of clearance for the propshaft
and we also managed to do it without removing the gearbox although this did involve cutting a couple of small bits out the bell housing...
Thats it for now. Going home this weekend as well so more of the car should start coming together. We will get the seat box in and then my electrical expert (dad)
can start making the loom and no I didnt ask if could do it, he volunteered!
Thanks

100" 4 door is possible but 90" is going to be a huge compromise.... The link is of a 100" example. Could you imagine taking about 10" out? or 7.1" if you are actually making it a true "90 inch"

Sill bars? is that an american term?
Call them tree sliders. People will know what you are talking about. Or if you want tree/rock sliders. May attract more attention on ebay?
-
I thought the tree sliders had the extra bar on the box to push trees aside, while the box allowed you to slide over rocks
This was my understanding
for example...

what engine? the puma lives at an angle as standard. Possible that its just settled on its mounts a bit wonky?
-
They wanted a deposit to cover shipping costs. Luckily they waved this because i was honest with the guy and said i couldn't find anything about them. I wouldn't have ordered anything if i had to pay a deposit with an unknown company and good thing i didn't!

For anyone who is interested here are the pictures of the parts from Vantage Auto the importers. I would highly recommend that no one ever goes near them! I was told these parts would be in "as new" condition... Really wasnt sure if they thought I was going to be a blind man or just a complete moron?
-
Good thing I have my defender to keep me occupied.... Which I should be selling before the insurance runs out.... and I then save up a bit more for a TVR.... Heading slowyly towards an all V8 garage?
-
I say jig, but that's not not the correct term sorry. Its just for bending it on. I do have a template though that we made to bend it to...
-
:-/ hmmmm yeah it was a bit.... Its the sump etc from a 4.7 V8 amazon. I couldn't find one in this country had a supposed importer provide one and the "as new" condition was shocking! Will dig out some pics later. So bought the gen new bits but not from Toyota so was slightly cheaper....

I have brakes! Wooooh So can stop... Now "just" need to make it go.....
Also During my absence my dad made a U bolt to go next to the front diff
I am very happy with it. In fact when I first saw it I thought he had got someone to make it
and here is the JIG he made it on
We have also taken the manifolds off to clean up and replace some studs before changing the sump and putting the Y pipe back on. Had to lift the engine a little to get these off which is a little annoying my not too surprising as they are quite close to the top of the chassis.... Dad also made some blanking plates for where the EGR and 2 lambda sensors normal go. Will need to order some gaskets before fitting them though.
Thats it till the sump gets changed in a week and a halfs time. Should be able to measure up and hopefully find some standard size props that fit... (crosses fingers)
Cheers

we dont run an intercooler on our trials vehicle and has never had a problem. We had some hoses made to go to the oil cooler in the rear but no idea if its needed!

I think it increases the track a couple of inches either side doesnt it? Guessing you dont want to put any spats on?
-
That is another good point! I am using defender wings but without the spats. I plan on using low offset rims and more road bias tyres. I think these should be legal and pass an MOT fine?....

I went with coiler axles mainly so if/when I want to upgrade diffs etc it will be easier to get all the parts and what not. And they are stronger as standard so should hopefully live with the current engine OK....
