The pedal in my dads rrc doesnt move at all. The breaks are astounding though. If you break hard enough u will stall the engine and its an auto! The MOT guy didnt believe my dad till he went and tried if for himself. The ABS does only work once though and then then car has to be restarted to "re-arm" it....

Sorry. I like my job and I wanna keep it!

Its interesting reading rumours/guesses when you are on the inside

Yep m12 x 1.5 for the threaded hole in the middle of a 300 inlet manifold. I got a banjo bolt from bgc motorsport for about £7

Not necessarily... But better safe than sorry! I think it might be an M12x1.25 but will have to check what I bought.

Just to add. I bought my turbo second hand. I dont know if the previous person had touched the waste gate but my car boosts to 1.3 bar having it plumbed in like this. Im not sure if 0.3 bar is a realistic pressure drop across an intercooler. It might be best to move youre wastegate back to standard and adjust it while using a boost gauge to monitor it.

I have my waste gate plumbed to the plenum and boost gauge, and the fuel pump plumbed to the port just after the turbo. Works fine.

Unfortunately the oil filter doesnt fit in the standard location, even a stubby one would I think have been in the chassis. I could have removed the standard cooler and fitted a stubby oil filter or possibly a standard size one but decided to keep the standard cooler put a remote take off on and have a standard size filter. Where it is the filter is ok. It doesnt stick out below the chassis . The oil hose that goes from the drivers side to take off plate however does. I am not too bothered about this as the vehicle is going to be more road use and green laning trips. No serious hardcore off road!

I have to say this makes me sad deep inside. I was enjoying reading this as im doing something similar myself. Could you not sell all the TD5 bits and other stuff u have and carry on? I have already rebuilt my defender and my dads, hence why I am this time doing something different, just bolting something together strikes me as a bit boring after having to design something to fit. Who cares if its costly or it takes longer if u have to spread the cost out. It will be great fun and u only live once!
Stick with the audi V8!

200tdi should easily pull them. My 90 has an lt77, 1.2 tbox, 3.54 diffs and 285/75/16 AT tyres and it goes just fine. Its tweaked a bit but i cant imagine the standard engine would have much of a problem.

This was done by East Anglian Galvanising Ltd http://www.wedge-galv.co.uk/East-Anglian_Galvanizing.aspx
I am very happy with it. Only cost £60 which I thought was very reasonable. The bulkhead doesn't look like it has warped at all and it looks like a pretty clean finish.

Thanks Borris. Bit more of an update. Got the bits back from the galvanisers looking all pretty and shiny
Havent shown this bit before. It mounts just infront of the fuel tank on the mounts that hold the strap that runs under the axle. It will hold the fuel filter and pump. I was originally going to mount the fuel filter on the bulkhead but decided it was probably better to have it before the fuel pump.
Need to buy some wings and all the gaskets and other rubbish you need when assembling a bulkhead now but will hopefully make some fairly quick progress soon!

how about non "standard parts" builds? ie putting on of after market parts doesnt count and if someone were to say make a custom winch bumper to bolt on then the bumper should go in the fabrication section but the car should go into the members vehicles? So land rover's with non LR parts should go in the sub section, say portal axle conversions and my lexus engine conversion
Obviously moderators would need to monitor it whatever the decision...

Thats if you are talking about disco 1 wheels, Disco 2 onwards have a different PCD.

The 16" bit (the rim) isn't the issue... it is the other parameters that matter. Standard Defender tyres are typically larger than Disco ones, so you should consider lifting suspension etc. to accomodate the larger diameter.
No no no
He wants to fit defender tyres to disco rims to put on a defender!
You will be fine

Yes please!
Could you add IVA/SVA to a swear words list and have it changed to perfectly wonderful legal vehicle?

I think its possible for the aluminium to corrode in this location become thin and not seal properly. You may want to check the condition of your engine parts. How long are you leaving the rtv silicon before you assemble it? You don't want it going too hard before you put the pieces together.

Think the general method is to put a news paper into the fan when the engine is hot. If the fans not working correctly the news paper will stop it rotating.
Jad

Is the viscous fan working correctly?
-
Is the electric fan blowing the correct way? I knew someone that connected the wires the wrong way and was sucking air out of the engine bay...

did anyone notice how c r a p is identified by the swear filter and replaced by ploppy plop plops in the topic but when you get the e-mail its unchanged? I dont consider it a swear word really but thought it was interesting.
3D autocad does me just fine so ill continue to use it

I used autocad to design my adaptors in 3D
Its one of those things if you know how to get along with it/its "quirks", its easy!

and make sure the car is on a level surface.... I have to say I have never had a problem with airlocks. I take all the caps off fill through the top most plug. When the rad is full cap it off when the header tank is at the right level put the cap on. Fill the engine and then take a heater pipe off one end and run through that until coolant comes out the matrix. Thumb over put it back together and bobs your uncle!

Thread size. Windscreen hinge bolts, door check strap mounts and fuel
in Series Forum

Hi
I have had my bulkhead galvanised and need to re-drill and tap some holes. Previously my cars have been metric so this is presenting a problem! Can anyone tell me the the thread size of the bolts the windscreen pivots round, the 3 bolts (either side) that hold the "check strap mounts" to stop the door opening too far and also the connection for the fuel feed pipe for a 2.6L, 6 cylinder 109?
If that's not too much to ask!..... :-S
Thanks for your help![:)](//content.invisioncic.com/r226025/emoticons/default_smile.png)
