  1. I had Spacers on my disoc for about 100,000 miles and never had an issue. They werent cheep i can't remeber the brand but they were TUV stamped, i got them from Keith Gotts when i worked there i guess they still sell them. I always made sure the hub was spotless and tourqued up the nuts holding them up to the correct tourque for an alloy wheel, never had an issue. If you use good quality certified kit and not back street bodgers stuff where the maker hasnt done any resurch into the strength of there product i personaly cant see an issue as said before if a wheel dosent come loose why should a spacer ? Just my 2p,,,,i'll go crawl back under my stone now.
  2. "Forgive me if im wrong, but hasn`t this thread gone slightly off topic?" Not realy just putting to gether the reason why Toms's has been closed down as some people seam to think theres nothing for Tom to answer for. Basicly as far as i can see a lesson on how not to run an off road site !
  3. SS is a pain in the but to use. As above i always run a tap down the thread and i often run a die down the bolt as they can be just as bad. Make a construction with SS take a little longer but having dril and retap a cage takes even longer, but then as i no longer work for an ass with a stop watch who cares. Oh yes plenty of copper ease too.
  4. OOOer MO Started to think i should be wearing a skirt and getting a blue rinse for liking my disco, BUT as my head started to hang in shame i dim light started to glow. A word poped up in my mind Evolution. I now feel better almost sumg in fact, as ok my disco may be a soft version of the defender, evolved from its hard macho have something to prove older sibling, but then i think, hang on wheres the cart springs the manualy operated steering. So what dose the Series brigade think of the Defender ? Maybe the same way the Defender 'men' think of the Disco. All of a sudden i dont feel so bad as theres even more of us softies out there now
  5. Hehe yea nowt like a nice bit of banter.. Anyhoos Concret huh ! Well i spread concret on my asbestos each morning, its cheeper than porridge. TBH i dont realy care what we drive as long as its 4x4, after all i do own a Wrangler and some one my friends own rice burners. Wavey 'just giving it anouther stir' Dave.
  6. "Any discovery is a Man's wife's car" This man's wife drives a Wrangler. My Disco definatly isnt a skool runna. On the whole i'm happy with it and to be honnest i couldn't live with a Defender, I'm six and a half foot tall and there simply isnty enough space in the cab for me to drive one with out removing the seat. I will stik with my comfy version of the Defender. Wavey 'can travel 300miles to an event do the event and drive back home again in comfort' Dave
  7. Nowt wrong with a Disco. Do anything you can in a 90, lugg anything(erm normaly ) a 110 can AND just as comfy as a Range Rover.. IMHO its the best all round vehicle Land Rover have ever built EVER !
  8. Have had twin rear shox on the rear of my overloaded disco for about 4 years now and cansay its well worth the effort, not only to prevent failure on rough roads but helps keep a hevey body under control over tricky situations, less roll overs and smashed windows. Set up can be made for very litle in a few hours all you need is a good fabricator and some steel.
  9. Had my trade card for years now its fab. works on all pro tools, consumables, parts and oils also works on some repaire products. Also a note worth remembering if your in the milly The Ford Motor Co offer massive discount on new cars.
  10. I'm with Adrian Flux. I also pay by monthly instalmants. When i took out the policey it wasnt explained to me it was a third party lender. I suspect it's the same with you also. The biggest and most important factor is if they didnt inform you of the method they farm out the credit they are in breach of FSA regulations and there have mis-sold you the insurance product and more importantly iligaly signed you up for a credit agreement. It is for them to be 100% transparnt with the information you require not for you to find out or do your own research, this include how they work your credit, also if theres an APR attached (as there is with Flux) then they have to go through ALL the facts in a damands and needs staement or there in BIG do do If you have problem contact the FSA, they aint a toothless body they do have the power to fine the living carp out out brokers who miss sell or miss lead client. PS did they even inform you of the FSA ? http://www.fsa.gov.uk/
  11. I had a simular issue with tyres going flat, fitted tubes still went flat, even fitted new wheels and tyres and they still went flat.... I moved house about a year ago and my tyres stay inflated, along with nuts and bolts staying done up etc. The only thing i can say that was hapening to my LR was some one was playing with it. (normaly on a saterday night ) Maybe your cure might be a CCTV set up and baseball bat ?
  12. Extreme Billing ?????? Some could of told me earler i had my shopping trolly on the RTI ramp two years ago....Mr Thurston didnt cotton to me that much either
  13. Sorry but the lane through Hankley comman is only driveable if you drive a green 4 tonner with 20 troops in the back ;)
  14. Snowing in Alton Hampshire. Not sure if it'll settle tho
  15. a Jon says. There will be no sympathy if your caught off piste by plod or park wardens (and they do patrol there in 4x4's often) , even less so by locals. however its a fantasic place to visit. do it right and have a great day out
