  1. I'll have a look at the wire colours tonight then fellas. I didnt think the older models had Egr, thats why i wasnt sure Cheers
  2. Sorry. Its a 96 defender 300tdi truck cab. I dont think its the difflock switch, as that works fine. I havent got a hand brake light, so its a possibility
  3. Im sure one was a bullet connector. But after looking at the picture im not sure
  4. Just been messing under the centre seat. Found 2 wires with a spade terminal and 1 with a bullet connector. Anyone know what these are for? http://s905.photobucket.com/user/souster4/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-05/A677FA1A-7C68-40D1-BE70-10A28CDBF303.jpg.html
  5. Hi, Im after the part number for the lower shock bushes on a defender 90 300tdi 1996. Ive searched websites and looked on the exploded diagrams. But when i see the description of part RNF100090L it states for defenders 1999 onwards The other number is 552818 and that states for front shocks only. So which part number do i need? Thanks,
  6. Good idea, but most of it was rotten. Think the previous owner may have had battery issues due to the rest of the chassis/bulkhead being totally rot free
  7. More into guys. Just been under the landy, there is a notch/cut out on the back of the drop arm (outside) that lines up perfectly with the steering box when the wheel is straight. Does this mean anything? Does it mean ive got it all lined up correctly somehow? :S
  8. Just took it for a spin guys, all seems okay. Locking over no problem at all. Driving straight etc. Shall i leave it be? The only thing that is bothering me, is the fact it takes more turns to full lock one way than another. But from what you guys have said, centre is actually centre is it!?
  9. Cheers for the replies guys. I seem to be getting full lock both ways - all but a fingers width between the tyre and radius arm. The one way is take 2 1/2 turns to full lock from centre. And the other way is taking 2 turns to full lock. So from what has been said, i seem to be okay anyway! Due to someone saying centre is not actually centre. What do you guys think?
  10. Cheers guys. How will this work been as i took the steering wheel off and repositioned it straight? I do appear to be getting full lock both ways, other than a finger widths different between the radius arm and the tyre on the one side. Have i totally bu***red it up moving the steering wheel on its spline?
  11. Sorted now guys many thanks to you all. Did what was said and it worked! Got another problem now with aligning it. See my other post
  12. Hi guys, feel a real novice here. And ive made a school boy error. Trying to learn, and unfortunatley learning from my mistakes as per usual I manage to get the drop arm off as per your suggestions! Put the new one back on. Got back in the landy and noticed the steering wheel wasnt straight. So i thought an easy remedy would be to adjust the steering wheel on the splines!! But, this didnt seem to work... It now takes 2 turns to full lock turning right, and about 1 1/2 to turn left on full lock. Despite it seem to be locking fully in all directions. Ive f****d up again as per usual. But now ive altered the steering wheel, i have no idea where the drop arm should be. Any ideas, sorry to be so thick and thoughtless. Thanks in advance
  13. Cheers guys, will give all suggestions ago in the morning. Also soaked in wd40 overnight if that helps at all. Will the steering box be okay with giving it a pisser?
  14. Cheers Peter. I'll give that another go i think. It kept slipping off, but I'll try another one. Do you think a mallet would be too much?
  15. Hi, Got the grinder out tonight to try and cut a slot in the drop arm to try and remove it. As per some of the tutorials on the net. The bloody thing still wont budge though, hit it a fair few times but wary of causing problems or wear in the steering box. Didnt use a hammer too heavy though. I have no access to any pullers of any kind, nor can i drive it now. Any suggestions guys, im stuck
  16. Thanks Mo, i thought something wasnt quite right. The price appealed too much aha. Looks like its going to be a peice of sheet steel welded in then instead, its abit cheaper!
  17. Got a fair bit of rot in the bottom of the battery box on my 90 1996 which i have now cut out. Would someone be able to explain to me how this works? And if they have used and fitted one of these themselves. Seems more series based than the defender. Or am i just totally on cuckoo. http://www.yrmlandrover.com/epages/BT3575.mobile/sec84c3ccf3c8/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT3575/Products/023A/SubProducts/023A-0001 Cheers
  18. Cheers everyone. Ive just bought a standard after market one. Going to have to grind off the old one i imagine
  19. Perfect! Cant ask for better help than that. Thankyou very much!
  20. Thankyou mate, so if i look down onto the steering box, the amount of bolts on the top cover is the type of box? Or is it the mounting bolts for the box?
  21. Hi guys, im going to buy a new drop arm for my 96 defender 90. Its a long story why. Anyway, which one do i require? As i have no idea which steering box i have. Tried to search differences with no luck. Thanks
  22. Haha cheers mate. Cleared that up, much appreciated
