  1. It is a good trailer I even barbequed a P38 on mine and it is still going strong.
  2. Have carried some very odd loads on my CT177 which led me to want the flat bed too. The only thing I have damaged so far are the stupid foldable lights which I have now given up on.
  3. I did say it was an insane idea and one that generated a very interesting discussion with varied opinions. My starting point was is this possible which I think we have determined through discussion that it is. Is it sensible? Given the trailers available to me the answer to that is probably no. We have discussed it and I probably need a flat bed trailer 6m long to even consider it. So this is either an excuse to buy a new trailer or to get someone in better equipped to do the job. I find it is better to have a sensible discussion about something than to wonder forever if it is possible.
  4. Container is 2.2 tonnes max but could be 1.8 tonnes Trailer is 0.7 tonnes 0.7 plus 1.8 is 2.5 trailer is 3.5 rated as is the Range Rover so I nave 1 left over. even at 2.2 tonnes I have 0.6 tonnes to play with.
  5. I live in Scotland and the thriftiness has worn off on me over the last 60 years lol. Also locating it on site will not be that simple. If the container is 2.2 tonnes with the additional weight of the trailer I should still have nearly a tonne to play with. The logs would also help with the unloading and allow be to centre the load on the axle as I would have 1/2 metre either end.
  6. At this stage it is just toying with the idea as I have the ability to transport the weight and wondered why I have never seen it done. The tying down issue is certainly something I had considered also aware of the mirror issue but think I have extending ones somewhere if not certainly have a camera maybe even able to use a venture cam. Have measured the Ifor and if I pit the doors to the hitch it would balance the weight quite well. Was thinking of putting the the container on logs for two reasons 1 to spread the load the other to assist rolling at the other end. As I said insanity but worthy of a discussion even just to confirm my insanity.
  7. Am having more, potentially, insane thoughts. Am thinking about buying a shipping container as I need one or two for a project. Sane so far. A 20ft container weighs between 1.8 and 2.2 tonnes is only 2.4m wide so in theory is could be transported on a 3.5t Ifor or similar trailer. I have two trailers of this capacity an Ifor car transporter and a Bradley flat bed. Has anyone done this, if so would they do it again and what are the likely problems other that the Police not liking the look of the load?
  8. Good companies can be hard to find so great to get recommendations.
  9. A freind of mine wanted to buy my Sport but wouldn't wait so went and bought a Highlux instead. Within one week the chassis had folded between the cab and the body. The eventually bought my Sport.
  10. Needs must. None of my other vehicles are running. I have two away getting work done, one is ready but cannot collect it because it still need a little work for the MOT and will need trailered home. Am about 12hrs into it with another 4hrs to go to finish. Hopefully get it done this week. I need to get another car on the road though as once it is MOT I have sold it to a freind.
  11. I had a couple of good ones amongst my pile of bits. Have now got the replacement back in, not too bad a job once it is stripped down. First the bare frame, then the diff, the left wishbones and hub as one unit then the right side. Just the brakes and the exhaust to go back on so hopefully complete before the weekend.
  12. He has some rare cars. He's got about 4 70's Celica's three of which he is rebuilding and one which he is the second owner of with 55k on it and in original condition. It is great to have a neighbour who is as mad about cars, whatever marque, as I am. The only thing that bothers him is people coming to his house for Range Rovers. He even chased off a freind of mine yesterday when he dropped off my Sport.
  13. It is a local landmark. If I want to give people directions to my house most locals already know it.🤨
  14. Got the subframe on the deck. Not out yet because the rain came on but this is how bad it is For some reason the picture is upside down even tried to rotate the original file but still came in upside down. Maybe a mod could sort this.
  15. And sold by a guy in a straw hat with a straw in his mouth going ooo aarrr.
  16. My wife moved to Scotland last year and loves the weather. Much better than her own country where today she was showing me pictures of ice on trees. While outside just now it is raining. As I have always said to her "we have 4 seasons, damp, wet, wetter and wettest and can get them all on the same day"
  17. Everywhere is a costal area!! The furthest you can get from the sea in the UK is 75 miles.
  18. I live on a major trunk road and have a field to the back of my cottage with a Discovery 3, 4 Range Range Rover Sports, 4 L322's and 3 Minis while at the front I have a Sport an L322 and another Discovery 3. My neighbour is into Toyotas and has a total of about 25 to 30 cars in his garden and garage. People regularly stop and knock on my door looking for parts or cars and quite often knock on his door first. I recently saw his post box and found this very funny.
  19. A 2000 vehicle is 24 years old and will probably have in excedd of 150k on the clock. When "I was a lad" (that makes me feel old LOL) you rarely saw a car with ver 100k on the clock and were usually rotten by 10 year old. Can we complain really? My dad always bought Vauxhalls and after three years old they were prone to rust. I spent many weekends repairing the wings on my mothers Chevette
  20. I also have a 2007 with 80k and it needs the inner and outer cills welded. Has just had a new front diff and a new front sub frame.
  21. Late 2005 and just under 180k. Nice looking car but both sub frames have tin worm. The back worse than the front.
  22. It's a common problem in Scotland which is the reason I prefer to buy cars from the south.. I have two cars from London and both have very good sub frame so I am not short of a supply. I never thought that it would literally pull the wheel off. I will update the photos once I have dropped the frame as I'm sure it will look horrendous.
  23. I'll find out how bad it actually is when I get it off next weekend.
  24. The subframe from my L322 do you think it will pass the MOT in May?
  25. I have a failed front cross over valve so stripped one off a spares car. Under the front wheel arch cover on a 2003 car. I tought this will be a 5 minute job to replace on my late 2005 car. Got the car up and stripped back the cover to find two piped disappearing into the bodywork. No valve. Does anybody know where the valve is likely to be located?
