  1. A trolley jack and a high lift is the ideal combination. Then you can easily change shocks quickly.

If the shocks have been on for a while you are likely to have to take the turret off as well. It is pretty common to snap at least one turret ring bolt. So it's a good idea to have a frest set of turret rings at hand.

I'm only changing the back ones.

Also, does anyone know how to adjust the latest koni Heavy tracks? (With the plastic not metal tops)

    Cheers,

    Mike

  2. Hammerite chips

I was on my mobile, this is a much better way of saying what I said.

Hammerite is also a pig to remove/sand/repaint etc etc.

Personally I would just get some proper car paint and roller it on, or buy a cheap paint sprayer and go nuts...!

  3. I've had a look a Withams but could not find any, not sure I was looking at the correct bit, will have another look.

You'll be lucky, they've sold all the good ones that have been released... Watch the price on ebay creep up.

  4. i'm thinking of putting rear bench seats in my ex-MOD Defender 90 but is this legal to have and then carry people in the back, assuming i also put seat belts in it?

i asked a friend who is in insurance and he said as long as its an extra that could have come with the vehicle when new, it is legal, but as this is ex-MOD i have no idea what would be standard.

    any thoughts?

There are some insurers that don't insure you if you have inward facing seats. Direct Line and Churchill being two (they share under righters and are owned by RBS IIRC).

    This might be a trend...

I'm putting forward facing seats in the back of my 110, using minibus seats and unwin tracking.

    Cheers,

    Mike

  5. Well, installed it over the weekend. Secret ingredient = washing up fluid and plenty of it.

You need to stick it on the top surface of the barb so that it can easily slide into the aluminium slot... (Washing up liquid in green):

Start at the back by the handle push the barb into place. When you come to a corner just feed it around, it does flex out, but just keep going. The washing up liquid allows you to pull the strip into place so it fits.

Go around with a flat headed screw driver and tuck the head-liner underneath where it pops out.

    Cheers,

    Mike
