The new piston get stuck up with grease... I had to push the piston in with a screw driver. hope this helps.

I might have read your original post wrong, you'll need to weld the brackets on before you get it galvanised.
Just out of curiosity, would a Q plate be a big deal on a 130, it wouldn't put me off...

When you say "had some trouble bleeding the brakes" go back and ask them exactly what they mean... they shouldn't have left you like this. disgraceful.
Front brake pipes are a piece of cake to do and shouldn't cause any problems bleeding, it's a pain in the backside too get the bleed nipples off, you just have too spend some time and do it...
take the front wheels off and look for signs that they have tried to get them off, if you find a broken bleed nipple scream blue murder at them...

Thinking about it a little more, I'd try this:
1. Reverse
2. Push the planks back so that some of the weight is on the leading edge of the door
3. Use a jack (or your chaps) to lift in
Because you are using the door edge you lose some of the weight about the pivot...
Again, just my two pence worth!

Yeah, I would say (having spent my youth lifting stuff) that you'd need a crane to get it in the back of a CSW.
It's not the weight so much as how you get three (four probably) blokes to lift it through the door safely.
A couple of options:
1. Rent a crane: http://www.hss.com/g/67715/500kg-Engine-Crane-Folding.html
2. Take it apart, you might have more luck with it in bits
3. Strap two wooden planks to the back of the thing reverse the CSW up to it and lever it in... The planks need to be long enough so that you "lay" it on the floor.

Hi All,
I was wondering what the part number for a 1997 Defender - CSW 110 300tdi - Salisbury Diff - Propshaft is?
Oh and the little o-ring that goes on the radiator screw in cap!?!
And the size of the bolts that I need for the Prop!?! Being greedy

The fan, the coupling or the bearing on the pump? I have a spare set of blades and the centre carrier that bolts to the viscous coupling of you need it - they are from my TD and the same as the 200tdi, not sure about the compatibility with the 300tdi.
That's really kind of you! It's the viscous coupling that's off center...
I'm feeling like moving to electric fans might me the way ahead...

Rag in the belt, that was the ticket... oh and the old trick of tightening hard first then un-doing, but then I do that automatically with all nuts! Weird thing about the fan is that it's of centre, that'll be a new one then...

Interested to see your resolution. Given you've not stuck the handbrake back on, it would be a stretch to attach the rear prop.
Ergo, see the previous two comments.

Any tips on how to remove a stuck viscous fan?
The belt doesn't have enough tension to allow me to remove it, is there anywhere I can safely hold onto?
And yes, I know it has an opposite thread...

My Dad bought a Jackall lift from an auction for £5 about 20 years ago.
He used it to shift oak beams around on his barn conversion for a while.
Then, in a fit of generosity not heard of before or since he gave it to me...
Now, it doesn't work. Is there any way of servicing these beasts?

I washed the water pump/p-gasket bracket in the bath once, you should have heard the fuss... It wasn't as if the baby was in with it for more than 5 minutes.

Yeah, now that makes sense... I thought it only took a tiny little bit of grease...
I'll give it a couple of years then get it grit blasted and painted properly.
I've stuck neoprene between the parts and daisy to stop any rust ebbing through...

As long as the bits that are normally covered when installed in the truck are greased up and covered carefully plus it's "upright" (as if it was installed) it should be fine.
Lets face it, under a tarp is luxury compared to under a Land Rover...
