  1. Dirty diesel, sorry about the thread hijack. Got some very useful info though.
  2. All good info regards the hp22, however I've had one behind the 4.6 for a few years worth of competition now and it's been ok so far. If it gives up I'll see if I can afford an uprated box from Dave Ashcroft. I won't throw the one out of the car away though just in case. Boyt, thanks for the offer. Let me pull all the stuff together over the next couple months and I'll give you shout. I'm running the merc as a spare car until the MOT runs out.
  3. The engine will be going into a buggy that was built to take an RV8 so hoping there's room. Engine position has been shifted back 9" but can be adjusted to suit. The pump is already on its way and I'll try to call Dieselmeiken tomorrow. Spoke to a specialist and found that the hp22 can take up to 400nm so should be ok for a while. I was a bit concerned so had to find out before going the SMT AB route. Where would I get the same timing tool, sounds like I need it.
  4. Thanks for the info Boyt. I'd already bought an E300TD to break for the stronger engine and contacted SMT AB to get the conversion kit for the hp22 autobox on seeing your post. Also got an OM603 pump off ebay in the US and have asked dieselmeiken for a price to tune. About to order a turbo manifold from KKD Motorsport. Read somewhere that the sump might need to be changed and that the correct one is available from Mercedes would you be able to help with a pn and a rough idea of the price?
  5. Thanks Steve, I'll check it out. Any reason you wanted to avoid the fluid take off and evaporator type system
  6. Hallo Steve, Did you buy the lpg stuff as a kit and put it on yourself? Just wondered as I wouldnt mind adding lpg to my tow motor but cheaply as it doesnt do the milage to justify the big bucks charged by the usual conversion outlets.
  7. I agree with BBC that it would be a very poor idea running the pump direct to the crank without a means to disengage. Is it the actuating lever linkage that's putting you off using a dog clutch? I've got a backward facing Gp2 pump running off the crankshaft through a Borelli EM clutch which is nice and handy with only a switch and relay to wire up. Haven't had the chance to load it up with the clutch submerged yet but given that it's on a (non MS) V8 I'd probably have other problems to contend with...
  8. Hello, Does anyone know of an old Superwinch H8PN lying about as I'm needing to pick one up for spares. Looks like this but preferably a version with the free spool
  9. I used to run LPG a few years ago and mucked about with venturi mixers with a couple of us making/modifying our own. Settled on a 50mm ID with 6mm holes (from 36mm and 3mm holes) for a 3.9 EFI using the standard air cleaner to keep the pressure drop across the mixer up to a decent level. The set-up for SU's or Strombergs wasn’t quite so restrictive if I remember correctly although it was Landi gas components I was using though so there might be differences between manufacturers.
  10. Thank's guys, I take some grief over it's looks, had it called a 4x4 picnic table on occasion.
  11. Hi MTS, I'm maybe a bit late with this advice but speaking from experience I'd advise you not to be tempted to go with the dual belt set-up as you will be constantly tightening the belts and spraying them with belt dressing to keep them sticky. I've presently got a twin belt set-up but intend to go with a direct drive coupling like Old Spot just as soon as I can get my radiator out of the way.
  12. Speaking of MM, anybody know what pressure/flow the type R's work at. Pump and motor cc's would be useful as well.
  13. Keep clear of the Road Angel Adventurer 7000 if you want to enter or edit waypoints without using a laptop. Had one, put it back and got a IPAQ rx5935
