  1. Hi Dave. Just researching this myself as I have picked up someone else's project 90 with a TD5 chassis and a 200tdi engine in it. Have found a few useful webpages; http://www.defendersource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15145 http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f38/fitting-td5-auxiliary-fuel-tank-into-tdi-90-part-1-a-82957.html#post830368 http://www.landroveraddict.com/forums/thread.cfm?forumID=2&threadID=65961&startRow=0 http://www.landroveraddict.com/forums/thread.cfm?threadID=37798 http://www.aulro.com/afvb/946147-post1.html That should give you a good starting point...
  2. In short all standard Land Rover Rims, steel or alloy, will fit the 235/85/16 and 7.50/16 tyres, but not all rims will fit all Defenders...
  3. Hi Snagger. I have had my 110 Rustmaster'd by the guys near Warrington. Spent the day with them photographing the whole process as I am writing an article about it. To say they were thorough is an understatement... Those are some dedicated people and the job they did was brilliant. Way better than I have ever done myself. Plus the waxoyl they use is a much higher spec than the stuff you or I can buy in the shops. It is designed to protect oil rig structures and to be applyed under water. Before After I got them to waxoyl the rear cross member as well as paint just never stays on for very long. 8 months on and all is hunky-dory, still a very happy punter
  4. Either you can make a cradle that allows the board to sit just above the roof tent, could easily be collapsable. If you are interested in the inside option, this is what I did for my OzTent. Works really well and means I can store the tent inside the 110 whilst out walking etc.
  5. Fear not Diablo, had the very same thing happen to me in my 200tdi 90... Boy that white smoke out the back was something impressive... Oil may, as in my case, have merely just been gushing in to the exhaust down pipe from the exhaust side of the turbo. Massive white smoke as the oil combusts in the hot confines of the exhaust pipe. Your engine may be abslutely fine. All I had to do was replace the turbo, oil and filter and everything was as good as gold, in fact better. Figure the old urbo must have been suspect for a while. How did it look when you got home?
  6. The PTC in the wing plenum is a good idea, plenty of space in there. Best I could find is a Alibaba contact http://sell.bizrice.com/selling-leads/1205088/PTC-Heater-for-hand-dryer.html It says they can do it in 12v format and wattage-wise to your specs... The only thing that may put a spanner in the works is that the warm/hot air is passing through a cold heater matrix, on its way to the windscreen, with initially cold coolant passing through it keeping it chilled. The colder the morning the harder it is going to be to get the heat produced by the PTC element to the windscreen... The only other place for the element, albeit a much smaller (doesn't mean less powerful) PTC element is where the flexi-hoses are that lead to the windscreen dash vents. A little more challenging to get it to fit and you would need 2 (or would you? would just the drivers-side be enough??) but the only thing in the way of the heat is the windscreen. I tell you what. Crack this problem in a cost effective, plug and play manner and you're golden...!
  7. I have been looking in to this as well. First with a view to finding a replacement fan motor, then an additional fan inline and more recently something like one of these DC to DC step-up adjustable voltage converters http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-DC-Converter-3-25v-Step-up-to-adjustable-5-25v-2A-/260802129328 just concerned that it will not be man enough to cope with the amps (10A-15A fuse for the heater motor).
