  4. right boys as i said at the start of the topic these figures are ture we had andy @ allisport TD5 on the same set of and with propane injection the TD5 made 198bhp and 360-370lbft (some of you must have sean the results posted at the shows) the car tested on with the 2.8tgv produced 450lbft @ 1300 rpm (these fig are not allisport figures they provided the intercoller) when my car gets back from RFC i will inform all of you where my car will be rolling roaded at we can have a dyno shoot out these figures 2.8 are posted here for our disscusion and i am as suprised as lots of you but you got a say its one stonking engine ps i hope my r380 last for 10 days in the jungle then we can watch it go bang on the rollers it will be turned into a auto then its the only way to go with this much grunt
  5. well i cant see why it will be straind (i am sure someone will inform me) all the power you need is there by 1,300 change gear and the jonny wilkinson felling will happen all over again bloody fantastic all that power and now wading worrys
  6. yes the sheet can be produced thats not a problem my problem is that my 2.8 has the same intercooler but 4xthe ammount of air going to the engine so we will be able to put more fuel in and that will greatly increse the bhp and that torqe figure will also increse and then just incase i dont have enough power i can switch on the gas and that increses the bhp by at least 30bhp and torque by 50lbft OMG its going to be quick
  7. Today in the UK a 2.8tgv powered landrover produced 450lbft That figure was produced at 1300 rpm It could be more as the car that engine is fitted to is using a 38mm air restrictor 132bhp and 450lbft all this with a bit more fuel and a bigger intercooler These are rolling road figures
  8. the problem at the argyle was a part problem the supplied the props with the wrong uj`s this was not a issue at three peaks he had no problems all weekend
  9. the car belongs to steve lloyd and is now painted in his colours he likes to keep things and developments to him self and his build team but he has quite a few intesting ideals in the futre the buggie is the way forword in challange eventing and it can only get better i start my build in jan and cant wait 303 volvo less wait but there only save upto 40" tyres 404 unimog VERY hevey but you aint going to break them
  10. allisport have just made some temp test equipment and are putting a bowler wild cat on a rolling rd tomorrow this will feture in that mag called LRE so egt will be shown in some from of tech graph the car has a tvg 2.8 and is doing next years paris dakar the 2.8 runs hotter than a standard 300 tdi and we will soon find out the info will post when avalibile i spoke to a guy at the three peaks and he had a EGT gauge fitted to his 300 tdi and it runs between 650-700 and when push hard to 750 but he doesnt like running this hot he had a standard 300 with a fan behind a standard intercooler
  11. After 9 weeks of evenings and weekends and some great help from friends the landy is as finished as its going to be bit of a story this so please read on March 2005 spent a week with jungle time adventures I the Malaysia rainforest with 7 other paying customers and 5 crew including martin lewis (course designer) and artek (chief scout for the rain forest challenge) Please follow link to read the story http://forum.difflock.com/discus/messages/...html?1127251301 While on this trip we all talked about doing the rfc and that may be we could go in 2006 I thought this is enough time to build a car to last a 10 day comp in the jungle. Well all was rosey and I had booked a flight on a Monday in late August to be a marshal In this years event to find out what its all about and then build for next year Then the fateful phone call from martin lewis Andy there’s a guy going to this years rfc and his co team has dropped out are you interested ring him so my first thoughts where great I will take my x devon landy and go as a marshall chance of a life time. But then thought sod it I got 8 weeks to shipping I new a guy who went on the march trip that would co drive and so the plan was hatched complete madness for 8-9 weeks (never again) The project car N90 MBF 1996 300 tdi Front 8274 Maxi drive difflocks Safety devices camel front cage Some flash seats The finished car goes like this 2.8 tgv Allisport rad Allisport full size intercooler Allisport propane injection Allisport 176ltr fuel tank 16”electric fan front of car 10” electric fan in bonnet (to xtract heat) D44 OME suspension and steering damper D44 cranked rear radius arms D44 dislocation cones D44 front track road protector Great basin rovers R&P`s 4.1 rebuilt diffs (thanks martin) New props Disc brake hand brake (thank you si) C V`s from Ashcroft End plates from Ashcroft 3 deg front arms from QT 2 new 8274`s this was meant for a twin motor 8274 this will wait until I get back it’s the reason the bumper is so big Foundry 4x4 Supplied all my sundries the car had new swivels complete poloybush kit Oil and fuel filters wheel bearings heavy duty steering bars new highlift jack cubie box complete S S exhaust The landy now has a 24volt winches both 8274 the front is running a 12 volt motor Albright’s and winch motors from goodwinch and the winches use 12mm bow rope Light’s are light force 140`s 6 in total 3 yellow top optima batteries The electrics are a work of art and carried out by Jamie Austin I will let him explain the bloke is amazing with wire and landy`s Wheels mach 5 16/8 using 35-10.5- 16 simex ET 2 The landy only had 300 miles on the clock when shipped but I will challenge any turbo diesel landy to a race it goes like jonny Wilkinson has kicked you up the a** As for the propane I am only using it on ss in the jungle the system works by boost of of the turbo and will be used only when you wont to go some ware fast when it comes back it will have a EGT sensor put on so that I can read the temp. And to top it all of we are now having a documentary made of us complete with on board footage so the dvd should be good http://forum.difflock.com/discus/messages/...html?1131168825 Any questions

  15. its being fitted to a front of a 90 if you inrested the 90 has had a bit of a rebuild list as follows old man emu springs /shocks and stearing damper 2.8 hs tdi with allisport intercooler and rad oh yes and propane assist(mmmm gas) d44 cranked radius arms qt front arms castor correction poly bushed 4 no optima yellow tops light force lights 4 front 2 rear(thanks diesal jim for your wireing) twin 3"snorkles going to a itg filter basin rovers 4.1 rps maxi drive diffs and shafts waiting for some shinny bits from ashcroft mach 5`s with simex hand made fuel tank in back so that winch batts are under drivers seat disk hand break and the winches are bow moter 24volts double the volts half the amps 100amp 24volt alternater twin yellow top batts 12mm bow rope rear 8274 braced and running same motor as the front and 12mm bow rope main system 12volt willing to help just ask
  16. i am building a twin motor 8274 now the problems are as follows bought 2 new 8274`s striped them down to there casings this is the fun part the winch ends can ethier be 23"apart end of case to end of case this helps with replacing motors but makes the drum very wide and when at full load you run the risk of spliting the end casings when pulling at the center of the drum the other option is to turn the one holding the rear motor at more of a angle so you can change the motors but you end up with the same rope as a single motor 8274 mine will be using albrights and 24volt 6hp bow motors most of the time and if i fancy a weekend of fast winching i will use 12volt motors on the 24volt charging system which should make it linford christe mode
  17. i think 255/85/16 sat on a 8j mach 5 rim is one of the best compo`s out there i have found the tyre is really suited for all offroading wide enough for boggy ground but narrow enough to dig in when needed
  18. i will be going to three peaks argyell i didnt get a entry {bugger} see you in irland
