  1. Which LRO edition was the artical about the gvw and weights on v5s? Seems I have to change to a new Mot station as well, just hope this one will be as land rover friendly as the current one, which I have used for last 10 years. Anyone successfully changed there gvw on the v5, was it really that easy to do/inform dvla?
  2. Bit late in answering here but as Paul and others have said have to go cruiser route. Im a landy man by heart but my v8 Disco1 would pull the challenge 90 about all over the country all day, it just didnt have the weight or power to be a nice relaxing drive ( if theres such a kind with a trailer), it just made driveng hard work so I tryed the 80 series lc and Im afraid to say its much better for towing the 90. Mines the 4.5 petrol and I get more mpg towing than the disco light!!! In regard to disco or rrc the disco is heavier not by much though, both have same engine power (v8 or tdi) so there a much of a muchness between the both, auto best for towing (personly) but be less in mpg and power.
  3. Just fitting my second Steve parker diff pan on my second axle. These are a very strong weld on diff pans and good price too. web page is steveparkers.co.uk
  4. I will get Mrs Welsh Dragon to scan the artical tonight for you guys. Sorry I cant tell you what the cover is as I removed the articals from lro years ago and keep them in clear wallets.
  5. Hi Tim Webster was one of those people I would really have like to have met. The article you are looking for is called 'a slight mishap' and was published in the LRO in January 1994. Page 201. Yep I have a copy 'ere on my knee. (yep call me sad if you want too!)
  6. we have had one made for us. Plain white. then added .... a welsh dragon!
  7. Your lucky you've got good neighbours......our one set of neighbours have tried very hard to complain to the Noise department when I rebuilt my 90 from chassis up (mainly angle grinder between 9am and 5pm on one day only). The Environmental Noise chap came out the day after and was very very good Cos the noise was during'normal' working hours there was nothing they could do to stop me from using the grinder The neighbours were asked to keep a diary of the 'noise' for 14 days. They never returned it to the EHO!! I cut our old chassis up into " transferable bits" 3 days after the complaint:D .... If in any doubt speak to neighbours to find out if the noise offends.
  8. "That third rut is normally made by a trial bike " That has just shattered a long term belief that the third rut was made by a Robin Reliant that drove all the lanes to check they were clear!!!!
  9. We have all of our vehicles insured with NFU. Only one is a 'standard' vehicle. Have had no problems with any of the modifications (LPG convertions, winches, roll cages etc).
  10. Hi Dave You could up grade to 100amp no problem watch the wirring though, i've had 100amp magneti-marelli on my challenge 90 for years (10) with no problem in charging with a single v belt, i also have just fitted a 150 amp bosch alternator (which i got from a local breakers and cost 35 quid )to charge the twin winch batterys only and that is on a single belt too, had no problems as yet.
