  1. I have one of the 30000 Lbs and they are good, easy to handle and clean. I do still prefer my old school big fat rope though. I have a KERR and it is very useful at times, I only ever use it on vehicles I know though. More YouTube rope snapping horror!
  2. Last time I go one out I ended up with the jack under the relay but about 2 inches above it on another jack then dropping it off one on to the other! Obviously not the safest or most sensible but it worked and was a giggle.
  3. It certainly was bleak up here this weekend, Weardale is fantastic scenery in all weathers.
  4. Mine won't be finished either lol! I'm currently re working a Discovery radiator to fit vertically in my Series II front for a 200Tdi conversion! Once it's all done I will be able to afford to drive down in it compared to the abysmal figures I was getting from my 2 1/4 petrol lump. Shame I won't have a locker in the back though as I swapped that for the engine, still gives me the opportunity to upgrade from a Detroit Locker to an ARB (anyone got one for sale?) I'm sure there will be more than enough mud for you again this year Russ Should be a cracking day
  5. This Sunday 30th March as mentioned in T.O.R. We ran one one last year on the Sunday the clocks went forwards too, must make sure a certain somebody doesn't sleep in! (Ham ) Talking of Ham he'll be unveiling his remodelled motor
  6. I missed that 1st thread, cheers. I haven't read LRO for years lol. I pulled all the front apart today to do the timing belt and yes the stock alternator is set back relative to the crank pulley and driven via the PAS pump. I'll make a bigger offset on the alternator and leave off the pump for now, or rather not put it back on. I may well look at using some other intercooler but to be honest I don't like spending money lol, hell I even swapped the engine for a diff, all be it a Detroit Locker.
  7. Cheers Les, I guess it'll be coming off then, the engine is at a friends place so I can't take a look see, can I just remove it's belt or need some sort of idler It sure looks a swine to fit the intercooler with the headlamp in the way, big hammer time. I have a SIII centre if needs be I guess. This working backshift's is a pain for getting help lol.
  8. My beloved 2 1/4 lump has just about turned it's last rev and so I'm fitting an ex Disco 200Tdi in over Easter (yes, yet another one). I was intending to fit PAS whilst I was at it as I have a 4 bolt box but, given the time I have to do the job, I'm thinking just getting the engine in and running for now will be enough of a job. So I plan to come back to the steering in the summer. So my question is what should I do with the pump; #remove it and fit something in it's place for now, if so what? #leave it on and connect it in some magical way to keep it happy? #Don't worry about it Oh and I'm using the air-con pump to do on-board air too, so that will be up there spinning around too but with the clutch disengaged of course. Oh and has anybody any thoughts on Intercooler position on a Series II with centre headlights, makes it a bit more tricky I guess than a SIII but I want to keep the external look as original as possible.
  9. If it is from a 101 and has the shorter bell housing would that make it a better option for a Series conversion compared to the LT77 or R380? If that's the case I may be interested, although I guess if you didn't know what it's from your less likely to know it's condition. Edit: Ok I found it is V8 bell housing, I guess I should have twigged that really. I was looking to put behind a 200TDi, never mind.
  10. Intergerspin This guy used to do the adaptor plates and remote oil kits, it was 5 years ago that my mate put his in. It's knackered now but has provided good service for the outlay. He is however fitting a 200TDi next month not another drop in Prima, need I say more. Oh and I just got a 200TDi for mine too, fitting coming soon.
  11. The timing belt is prone to slipping whenever you get mud thrown up at it, I've been there with my mates a few times having reset all the timing in the field. You may get 30mpg if it's a good 'un. You will need to remote mount the oil filter too as the axle will just remove it otherwise, again been there seen it. Still it gets the job done but they are getting harder to come by.
  12. Apologies to all but the £20 pre booking price has had to be cancelled due to an increase in costs from the land owner Sorry for any miss-understanding or inconvenience caused. Anybody with any questions about this please feel free to contact us via the Contact Page Once again apologies to all.
  13. Looking forward to seeing you and your Modded Navara in April then.
  14. No restriction as long as the vehicle is sound and has good recovery points. We regularly get Suzukis and Ladas but I don't think we have had a Navara before so that would be good to see Site Rules
  15. MonkeyMotorSport are holding our next 'Pay and Play' day on Sunday 30th March at our site in Radyr near Cardiff. Price is; £25 on the gate or £20 pre-booked. Full details can be found on the MonkeyMotorSport Web Site We attract all of sorts vehicles and abilities from family Freelanders to competition motors. We will also be running another play day on the 27th of April.
  16. Langdale Quest near Scarborough have run a scheme called an X-pass for many years which covers a years pre paid entries.
  17. That be they I do believe Andy has learned to work a laptop in the last couple of months. Ham is still know to look at the suspension bridge and marvel at the new technology of it
  18. I'll be there and so will the two computer-phobic members of MonkeyMotorSport. I'm wanting to buy lots of nice shiny things with the intention of bolting them to my old rusty thing. So, I'll probably just end up with some X-Eng stickers lol.
  19. Zenith 36iv running. I had the camera phone in one hand and a torch in the other so I had to get worr lass to rev it but she just wouldn't give it any stick This is the one I just skimmed the castings on last week. It has now gone from gutless wonder to tyre spinner
  20. One thing I've found is that you need to be careful not to take too much material off the emulsion block or it doesn't seal to the 'O' ring sufficiently. You will only need to take off material from the seating areas, the two legs which hold the float spindle are effectively in free space so you don't have to take off material to reach their level of warpage which tends to be the lowest points. The last one I did I skimmed 5 thou off and it started like a banana! I have been wondering about making up a gasket from something more pliable, but of course resistant to petrol, to be a little more tolerant of the warping. I built my last one with a BritPart kit which had a really carp brass throttle spindle. At £8 though I didn't care too much, I think it's £30 something from Paddocks which seems crazy money for what you get.

    2 1/4 Carbs

I'm curious about the injection side of that one Fridge, got to be more fun than a 200 TDi conversion for a low mileage/play motor. I have just had grief with my Zenith 36iv. The classic body warp, the emulsion block being especially bad. I took it into work and skimmed all three castings last night. I left it soaking in cleaner today and I'll rebuild with new jets etc. tonight. All things being equal it should last a good few years. Does anybody think there is a market for skimming/fully overhauling Zenith carbs? What would you say a reasonable price would be?
