  1. I run 235-85 16 Grizzlys on my 88 and it's about as big as you can sensibly go without losing the ability to turn or breaking too many 1/2 shafts.
  2. My chassis is like a pair of great escape trousers, it's always filling up with mud and bringing it home. Nothing wrong with having a few hundred pounds of mud packed into a galv chassis it helps with stability, honest.
  3. I think you'll find that to be wrong. The correct cable for a given current is based on many factors including the enclosure or trunking that carries it. If you take a look in the 16th edition you'll find lots of tables covering correction factors for things that affect the heat dissipation of the cables for a given amperage. The concept applies equally to vehicle electrics even though the regulations don't.
  4. It could be said they are called sealed beams because they seal the light in. That's as good as they get I'm afraid, they are even worse with a dynamo set up, ah those where the days.
  5. When I first got mine it sat lovely and straight. Once I put on a set of wheels that where all the same size things got decidedly lop-sided! I never got it to sit true until I replaced the chassis no matter what I did to it.
  6. What happens after a few years of salt and frost etc and it starts to break loose into big rattling chunks that you can't get out?
  7. I have had my fair share of dodgy pattern parts. Worst offenders being 'County' track rod ends from about 1989. I went through about 15 to get one that lasted the week. It got to the point where I was determined to find a good one but never did. However I got a full set from paddocks in a buy them all discount thing and they are still tight 5 years later. On the annoyance factor was a series II clutch slave cylinder which I found to have the wrong thread in whilst trying to get the pipe in after fitting it all. I know I should have test fittted but a quick glance in and all looked fine. Have you considered the possibility that the X-Member may be right and your landy is twisted? Probably not but possible.
  8. Past my bed time, a job for the Sky+ I think
  9. I don't think anybody is disputing that they do the job under normal road conditions, it's more the fact that get them full of wet sloppy stuff and that 92% flies out the window as fast as you do whilst expecting the brakes to slow you. Well that's what happens in my experience anyway.
  10. Can't really comment on the engine but we build the subframes where I work and they are seriously solid especially compared to the older ones.
  11. I was just going with the North Off Road theme [OT] The Avatar was a quick bit of PhotoChoppage I did, glad you like it. We (MonkeyMotorSport) have the design as spare wheel covers.[/OT]
  12. I have a full cage from North Off Road. However he did all the work at his place rather than me getting a kit. Just a short drive for me. Full internal Series cage.
  13. £65 for the extended shackle kit from CPC seems a bit steep. CPC Shackle Kit Paddocks, and probably others too, do them much cheaper. £17.95 Front and £14.95 Rear sets + VAT makes £38.66 a couple of other bits to take you over the £50 free delivery threshhold and your quids in. Paddocks Shackle Kit I have a set I've been meaning to fit to my rears as my CPC 2+1 parabolics are sagging a bit after 6 years, nice and flexy though!

Anchor Stores down near the cattle market in Nottingham had vast quantities of the stuff last time I was down there. I used to love rummaging around in there when I was a kid, always wanted a set of the night vision goggles they had on show oh and a few of the missiles looked cool too!
  15. They are similar to a Johnny Joint it seems. Johnny Joint Link I guess if there is a size available to fit into the spring eye then it would be quite an interesting and fairly straight forward option.
