  1. Snow has come for good around here and after several winters driving with Diff/Lock on snowy roads, I am considering getting a proper set of winter tyres. My 2007' Puma 110 is equiped with new General Grabber AT and it is as polyvalent as they claim. However, it is rather scary when the road is icy. I am considering breaking my piggy bank and getting some Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT2. They seem to have good reviews. Does anyone drives with them? Is the price worth the safety/comfort they bring?
  2. Hello Marco, I have a Puma since 2007 and I am probably the worst DIY mechanics you can think of! I have brought the car each year for regular servicing and never needed to do anything to it but add the liquid for the wind screen. Electronics? What electronics? More than 80.000km so far. I wouldn't even know what to do if I wanted to: the car is as good as new!
  3. Hi there, I am also considering adding two extra rear seats to my Defender 110 of 2007. Now that I have been looking for information here and there, I understand why the metal shoulders in the boot aren't flat! Among the options, changing the Defender for a Discovery would be worth a try but the cost, of course, isn't the same! With this in perspective, purchasing news seats becomes realistic, even if expensive. Now, as a basis for comparison, does anyone know the price for the official rear forward facing seats with seat belts proposed by LR? or at least their part number? As for the spine compression thing, simply move the kids to the middle row, and propose the rear ones to the mother in law
  4. Thanks for the tips. It's a 2007's so I guess I have TC. But I think I went down to the roots of the problem: I mixed up GG TR and GG A/T ... I have TRs on the car and I bought 3 A/T . So I've ordered a 4th one.
  5. Hi there, I'm afraid I wanted to be too smart . My set of tyres General Grabber need renewal (70.000km of duty). Because I wanted to use the spare tyre and replace it with an old one, I ordered only 3 new tyres. However, despite the same name (235/85/16) they have a significantly different print. Basically, it's a new version. What should I do? Buy a fourth one or I can use my spare one? Besides the look, is there any danger in using tyres with different print?
  6. Hi everyone, My '07 Def runs very smoothly and still qualifies for the best car in the world. That being said, I've noticed a weird noise for some time and I cannot find what it is. It sounds like a propeller noise: flap-flap-flap It happens only when the engine is cold (morning) and when I drive (no noise when idle). It lasts for about 5-10 minutes till the engine is warm. I've checked the engine and under the car, nothing out of the ordinary. Would it last, I'd go for a hole in the exhaust pipe or something stuck in the ventilator. Could it be related to the oil? Any idea, suggestion?
  7. Hello all! I am not sure this is the right forum in LR4x4 to ask but I give it a try: I finally received a pair of side runners for my Def 110. I have the part number (LR008375) but not any instruction manual. I had the dealer fix the four "bolt/rivets" in the chassis so all I have to do is to attach those two black tubes on the truck. It seems to be rather straight forward so I don't panic but maybe some of you have tips how to install those bars. Any idea? Cheers!
  8. Hi there, What a weather lately! I return from a trip to Germany and it was white hell: 450km in a snow storm. For the first time in my life I used Diff-Lock on an autobhan! The Defender once again proved the best car in the world. Yet, after 52,000km, the car is entering its fourth winter (2 in Russia, 2 in Czech republic: both places with "real" winter) and I am wondering if it isn't time to change my General Grabbers. They still look good, are obviously used, but not worn out. They lost approximately half of their gum. On the pressed snow and ice it's getting a bit tricky. I'm thinking of getting new tyres and I have two questions for you guys, the pros: - Is it ok to buy only 3 tyres and to replace the spare one with one of the old ones? (I'm thinking: do I realy need a brand new tyre on the back og the car?) - Is there a big upgrade from GG TR to GG AT2? I'm very satisfied with the TR, do you think upgrading to AT2 (and then having to buy 4) is worth it?
  9. Here and there; often there...

  10. Of course. This would be just for one trip, in the heart of summer, in the south of Spain (+40°c easy). Anybody already painted its roof in white?
  11. I see there is no rule... I'm planning to go to Spain this summer and a white roof might be handy there. I thought of painting the roof with some chalk-based water paint, and then cover it with a rubber spray (the stuff supposedly to spray before getting muddy). What do you think?
  12. Hello there, I'm very glad with my Def'07 SW110. Unless I need to find an underground parking, I think it's the best car ever! When I got it, it was brand-new, the first one available where I lived. To have the privilege to get one, I had to accept the pre-ordered specs, i.e. winternization. Really good indeed. Tyres have never been changed even during such snowy winter we had, heating seats are precious when it's -20°, the car is great. BUT, and there is a but, the roof is not white... Somehow, I still believe a Defender's roof ought to be white. What do you think?
  13. Steering wheel a bit less close to the door, and airbags could be handy too. The rest is just okay right now! A screw-pull maybe (for picnics)?
  14. Thanks so much guys! I am back from the service center (yes, they work on sunday), and already got a new pump! They had only one in stock but I only needed one. The technicians were very impressed with the correct diagnostic and even more by the bulletin!!! B) 3 hours after arriving I was hitting the road with a brand new pump and the forever-cool car that goes around it. If the car could, I am sure it would bark of joy! So, again, thank you very much!
  15. I feel sorry to come up only with questions and rarely with answers but I really need help here. My Def '07 (Puma?) had its two-year check-up a week ago (expensive and long... ) and I've just noticed a leak under the engine! The service garage is far away so I thought I'd ask you all for your advice before going back there. I don't really know the technical terms in English (and my manual is in Russian to make things worse!) so I'll try to describe to the best I can: - When in front of the car, it seems the leaking product (black, quite liquid - could be oil or maybe some steering liquid, I frankly can't say ) is concentrated on one piece, on the right of the engine, just behind the fan. - This "Warco" thing (pic 189) seems to be the origin of the leak. The hood has a stain right above it. - There is a second splash on the hood 10-15cm on the right, above the little blue plastic tap showed on picture 191. Maybe it comes from the "Warco" stuff, hard to say. So I came to two conclusions: - Either the mechanics forgot to tighten the screws on the "Warco" thing and all I need to do is to get a key and do it; - Or, it is unusual, has to do with joint or other troubling matters and then I go back to LR and ask them (probably not kindly) to fix it. I don't want to make things worse than it is, so connoisseurs' opinion is most welcome here!
  16. Hi guys, I have a question that will probably make most of you roll on the floor out of laughter but here it goes: I'd like to equip my 110 ('07) with a towing ball and the necessary electric equipment in order to attach a trailer. Now, I have no idea how to do such thing as electricity work spooks me even more than mechanics! I guess there are some kits for sale (I found on paddock only for freelander...) as well as instructions but I guess several types exist. Any one as any idea how to do that and how much it costs? Thanks. NB: I bought a Land precisely not to have to open the hood and fix stuff under it. So far, my theory and the car work wonder...
  17. Right. The photo was taken yesterday in the streets of Moscow. I am not a big fan of all the accessories attached on cars (something to carry people and objects B) ) but I must say the standard lights of the Def are not so great... This equipement I saw is just what I want. Thanx for the link to Rebel, they have just the stuff but they don't really give any reference details... I'll keep look and appeciate your help!
  18. Hi there, I've seen the other day in the street a brand new Def with this sort of A-bar attached on the bumper. On it are attached a pair of big lights. I wish to equip my Def 07 with such stuff (don't really want to change the whole bumper to fix some lights) but I have no idea of what it is. Any one out there can help? Name, reference number or whatever it takes to find the equivalent... Thanks!
  19. The Def 07 (so Puma is the name?) is defenitely a nice car: - You don't need ear-plugs to drive it, - The seats are real ones, that you can move forward and backward! - The anti-stal, TC, and other electronic gizmos make life better; - And of course the heating and A/C are now more or less okay Now, to be honest, the previous Defender I drove was a Serie III that did not pass the technical testing so the Puma does not have to try hard to win... Nevertheless, I liked the horizontal sliding windows on the Series, that looked liked a real LR!
  20. I still think of buying a handwinch for my Def 110. I don't want to install the full electric system on the bumper as I might use it very rarely. But I want something to get out of the mud when it happens... Depending of what is available around here, it will be a T-Max or Tirfor. There exist many versions of various strength. I know the Def 110 is about 2000 Kg of weight. What do you think, I should get definitely something that pulls more than 2T or with a 1.5T that will do the job?
  21. My 07 Def goes fine but I experienced several times a "gap" between 2nd an 3rd: I switch gears, press the accelerator and there is a split (rather a full) second of nothingness before the engine reacts... Is this what you are all referring to? Does that means my gearbox needs to be changed or I should just ignore it? I told SWMBO that car was undestrcutable when we bought it...
  22. Excuse a stupid question but do you really manage to drive higher than 140km/h with a Def? My roads surely don't allow me and anyway I don't want to become completely deaf!! I think 130 was my max and I can't say I felt like driving the right car at that moment...
  23. Hi Marcus, Good pix, nice truck and cute girl For the snow lovers, here is a recently taken picture from around here... The car is a CRV, not as tall as our Def but still!
  24. Ahoj, I plan to have a trip to Prague this summer and I would like to take this opportunity to spend a bit of kronas in a Land Rover spare parts shop. Does anyone here know the right shop? You know: nice people, good inventory and cheap prices And also, if you know a fun 4x4 club there I am also interested! Diky!
