hello i can get my hands on a TD5 instrument dash from a 2006 (speedo clocks etc) my question would these work in a defender 300tdi landrover? is it a staright swap? are the plug connections the same??????? i thought the TD5 had an electronic speedo????? where my 300tdi still has the little mouse running on the wheel to turn the speedo lol lol lol any help advice always welcome

IMHO Having had a few issues with an automatic new gearbox and torque convertor , David was more than helpful getting a replacement TC and parts dispatched to me to effect repairs, even though his supplier of the torque convertor did not stand over THEIR product. David also covered the labour costs to have the box reinstalled, so WELL DONE THIS MAN. IMHO In this day and edge it’s nice to see an ethical business man and a very nice man to do business with. In the past I have purchased many items from this man and will continue to use his service and products. many thanks Big Ives

ok western that makes sence, i have these type on my rig they have the plain shank and are rated 10.9 should be strong enough for my drive flanges, didnt want to carry 20 home and find out they where no good............................many thanks Ivan

Hi my 2004 auto Disco 2 has this intermittent starting fault, what happens is turn the key to position 1 and and as normal all the lights come on the dash, turn the key to the next poition and nothing happens? the problem points to the ignition barrel? i have read that the starter also gives problems, but is the solenoid on the starter anything to do with the problem with the ignition barrel? i know its all wire through each other, but is the problem the ignition????? i have a brand new battery so i know its not that. many thanks Ivan

while driving the other day the lights on the dash started to come on one at a time and stayed on, the wipers slowed down and disco went into limp mode, so i thought it was the alternator. to check i replaced the battery and tested across the new battery terminals with disco running 14.2v so it appeared the alternator was ok. today the problem re-apperared, this time i checked the alternator connections etc and also found it was covered in engine oil, i can't see where this oil is comimg from, anybody help? i read some time ago this was a problem on disco td5 but can't find the thread again. i cleaned the oil off alternator and when running the engine i am only getting 7.7v across the battery, so it looks like the alternators dead? is there any other tests i can do? can the alternator be reconditioned?..................................many thanks ivan

many thanks everyone all sorted checked all the vac pipes and found one split. it was one of the small pipes, as i had removed the EGR i followed the TD5 link and aslo removed the wiring connectors took the disco out for a test drive OMG what a differents to the brakes, tested them until they where hot but was still able to stop yessssssssssssssssssss

will get it on the heart machine and see what if anything is wrong with the ABS will also look at the vacuum pump. many thanks

i hope i can describe the problem correctly on my 04 disco td5 auto when i press the brake for the first time i have good brakes however sometimes when i ease off the brakes and then press again the pedal only goes half travel and appears to be hard. if i lift off the pedal quickly and repress the brakes everything is ok? this only happens sometimes, more so when the brakes have been used a few times. i have replaced all the pads, checked the pistons all move in the calipers, bleed the system but the problem is still here. what else can i check? many thanks ivan

hi my mate has had is Defender TD5 fitted with JE stage 2 upgrade, ie chip and intercooler, now driving on the road it goes like the wind however i think it needs a disco transfer box, would a T box from a 300tdi fit to a TD5 OR if not a 300tdi Tbox which one would help for road driving many thanks __________________

white 90 this is what happened on the MOT rolling road with rear brakes, i run with insa turbos 285x75x16 on 8" rims with 30mm spacers and the wheels kept jumping out of the rollers, in fact 4 times anyway mystery solved never heard of the decellerometer????

many thanks for all the replys my 90 was a complete rebuild which i carried out myself and has stainless steel brake hoses, all new pipe pipes, good brake pads, and i think she stops good she past the MOT the other night and the MOT chap said the brakes where a bit ropey but didnt fail the 90 i was comparing the stopping against my Disco 2 Auto and my A6 Auto I was just checking to see if there was an upgrade but clearly i see i have nothing to worry about (need to stop being a Perfectionist) and YOU ALL have saved me a shed load of money and work thanks

hi landy has just passed MOT brakes are good, however i want to upgrade the braking system on my 1996 300tdi defender which is used for offroad and on road i have been told to go for vented discs on the front and rear, is this ok for offroading? if i go vented, do i have to also change the brake calipers? what are the part numbers for the vented front and rear discs? any other suggestions for the brakes? many thanks Ivan

here lads last night i only asked a simple question, just to prepare me for phoning landrover today the main stealer couldnt even be bothered to ring me back with a quote, no problem his loss disco booked in with another landy garage so many thanks for any info gleamed from this post

hi i am thinking of replacing the head gasket myself, as the motor is an auto is there any issues with the electronics when changing the HG? is there any write ups showing how to replace a disc td5 HG? many thanks
