  1. I am off to live in Norway in next month and my ex-MOD Defender 1987 with 2.5n/a is coming with me. Norway is extremely expensive and I am going to put together a list of spares to take with me. Can I ask people if they had to put together a list of parts, what would be on it? Thanks
  2. do you mean the etch primer might crack or the top coat might crack? - problem I have is that I don't have anywhere to do the actual spraying for about 6 months so I was basically going to roller the etch primer all over (not thick but one coat) then let it harden and rub it back, then use the vehicle as is until I can spray top coat. I guess if its going to crack, it will do it soon?
  3. ok but does it matter if I put a full coat on all panels rather than just a dusting? - I'd prefer full coat so that I can see any dents etc I have missed and then rub it back......like you would with normal primer. any issues with that?
  4. mine is just drying in a standard garage so hopefully should be ok does it matter if its put on solid so a full coat rather than a dusting?
  5. having rubbed down my landy I had to take the wings back to exposed aluminium and just started rolling some Etch Primer on it with a foam roller.......it almost started smoking! so i'm guessing this is not a good idea. anyone know what to use to put Etch Primer on? - I have some spray cans but they are for edges etc maybe a normal roller will work rather than the foam ones? cheers
  6. perfect......I started pulling the rubber out but as it was very tight I thought I better stop to check it was correct - now I will go ahead! Thanks
  7. any idea's how to remove the military lights? I can screw the lenses off but how do you get the main part off?
  8. this is a picture of my wheel with the issue.....any thoughts?
  9. true in ever way......I might get a couple of the LR ones and see the difference in quality
  10. I think i'll get a job lot of the OEM ones as the originals from LR are 96p each!!
  11. I just bought some off ebay, so maybe I will look for genuine LR and see if they are any better.......on the ones I bought the pin just bends with the slightest tap
  12. thanks but do you not think the plastic replacement ones are really poor quality and bend way to easy?
  13. anyone know where I can get some which have the medal pin as these are stronger than the cheap plastic ones cheers
  14. ok I need to try and find a picture as I have no idea where the lift pump, filter bleed and injection pump bleed, are located.......
  15. sounds like I have another leak then as I believe air is still getting in
  16. I had 2 new footwells replaced at the weekend by a welding company and when I collected my ex-MOD Defender with 2.5n/a engine yesterday, I drove down the road and no power (even less than normal with a 2.5n/a !) .... got about 1/2 a mile and it completely stopped. Then when I started it again and pushed accelerator it cut out...! Not being massively mechanical I had no choice but to call the AA - they arrived and within 10 mins he noticed that the welder had burnt the fuel pipe......he cut it and fitted a sleeve to hold both ends together so I could get home. I need to replace it this weekend.....is it just a standard piece of hose? - any known sizes? In addition, it still seems to be a bit lacking in power and holding back a bit, which makes me think there is air in the filter (correct if i'm wrong) How do I bleed the air out?
  17. thanks guys, decision made! - STT's it is
  18. they look like an awesome tyre.....I think this will be my option Cheers
  19. anyone got any idea how much a standard Defender weighs? - need to buy some axle stands etc
  20. yep the G90's are really poor, especially on tarmac in the wet......(fun round a roundabout in the wet though!) I like the look of the ST Maxx Cheers
  21. The Cooper Discoverer STT looks visually like an awesome tyre, which is the look I am after, but what are they like on tarmac?
