  1. I'm not sure if screw 14 - AB606044l was for either side of the light cluster or the bottom of the dash dial panel - haven't taken mine off yet I was not sure. Says Qty 2 - could this be it Thanks very much - is that schematic from a parts catalogue on-line?
  2. Hi, Can someone kindly tell me the size of screws (or part number) for either side of the instrument light cluster on the dash of a 95 Defender. I only recently got a 110 ex army tilt and have been working through a full service. These parts seem to be vexing me - I don't know anyone local with a Defender so can't whip one of theirs out to measure. Really appreciate any help - its one of those niggly things that I 'must' fix. Every time I drive it its shakes out and shouts at me! ps. If anyone finds this online more than happy to be educated as I have tried! Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi, Have just serviced my new 110 FFR so still have fond ( ) memories! The engine sump has a copper washer - IIRC manual says check on servicing and replace if needed. I got a new one with my filter so replaced it anyway. Could not for the life of me get a torque wrench in there though but tbh can't remember ever using one on an engine sump - just don't so an 'Arnie' on it. Haven't got to the gearbox yet but I have a r380 so will leave those answers to another. Good luck!

    Steps

Hi, Does anyone know if standard Defender side steps with fit a 95 FFR 110? Its not for me honest! I want to keep the look but some passengers are shorter than me. TIA
  5. Hi All Quick Update - took the white painted diff pan off and surprise there wasn't actually any gasket on there. No broken bits of metal in there just some large red parts and teeth. There was some black spray on the inside of the diff pan that looked slightly metallic but something big. I had done 12 miles in it since I got it - not sure about the 2 weeks prior when it left MOD. Just happy I didn't drive it back and it was trailered the 400 miles. The current diff plan has also been replaced as it had lost the thread off the filler plug - now boring black - but once refilled it it holding its oil so far - I must admit I have to check the torq on the nuts as my wrench starts at 40nm and someone kindly told they were 24 - new wrench time! The tip about using chap-stick to hold the gasket on which I read on her was a gem and saved me the need to grow a third arm - which when working on land rovers should be compulsory along with two heads and an elbow than bends the other way! Hoping its will be OK now and I don't need a new one - but something to be said for DIY maintenance - could have been very bad indeed! Thanks Taffia
  6. I had the same dilemma with my Wife - but decided to put the effort to do her up and keep her - haven't thought about selling her - yet! Sorry early morning humour - I have been fighting with an Oil Filter fitted by Arnie since 6am on my newly acquired 110 MOD Defender and although I am wearing the contents of the filter - its off! Back on topic - I say build it and sell it - after spending a year looking for a good 110 I am sure it will make someone happy! Now for a fight with the Grease nipples!
  7. Thanks for the tips - new Pan is in hand and ordered 2 gaskets in case - and both are cork Will update everyone on how it goes. I am based East Sussex for my sins. Thanks all.
  8. Thanks I got the Haynes to start off but as I am committed to running it 100% DIY maintenance I think I need to invest in some better books. Thanks for the links. Going to pick a fight with a squaddie fitted oil filter next! Thanks again
  9. Thanks for the speedy reply. May I ask what manual you have?
  10. Hi, Proud new owner of a 95 army 110 defender lacking fluids. Latest find is the rear Salisbury diff with no oil in it and no thread on the filler hole. Looks like its been shot! Ordered new differ pan/cover and gasket. Can anyone point me to the torque for the bolts when replacing pan? Haynes not helping! Thanks in advance any help or pointers appreciated.
  11. I just had a Numax 017 fail on my 110 ffr in the recent snow - impatience drove me to Halfords and I ended up getting a huge Bosch Silver - biggest they had - can't believe the difference Not a battery expert but the spec quotes a CCA of 700 +/- IIRC ( even on the Halfords flippy guide)- I don't think that would have tickled my 2.5NA! Thinking of getting another for dual system - but currently trying to get some oil back into my rear diff - seems to have a bullet hole in it and no oil! Good luck.
  12. Hi - just got a Defender 110 FFR Canvas 1995 and these looks like the ones that are on mine. I can measure them later if you want to be sure. IIRC they come in two different sizes for the Defender as well - width the same but longer. Can assume its for stability? Let me know I can measure tonight if it would help! Taffia
  13. Hi All, After years of promising myself I have finally found and bought a 1995 Defender 110 FFR 2.5NA with low mileage. Lucky to find a late one with a Salisbury rear axle and disk breaks, R380 box and sump guards and later steering wheel I didn't have much time before I purchased latest toy - but slowly doing a full service on it as I promised myself its a DIY toy. Jobs done so far: -Changed Glow plugs -Put in Seat extensions on Drivers seat - even as a young officer many moons ago I remember driving with my knees around my years - still tall and a bit rounder the seat extenders are now a must! -Panic last night to get some Anti-freeze in it - it was just clear water! Jobs to do: -Oil change -Fuel Filter -Air Filter -Remove battery box from rear (Both the top locking pins are stuck lord knows what's inside!) -Put in new Seat foam for Benches -New Tilt/Canvas in Spring - maybe one with plastic side windows -Replace bulbs on temp and oil temp dials -Work out if the steering is supposed to be that heavy with tyres at 35PSI in front. Jack up on axle stands and have a look I think before wimping out on PAS. -Complete my collection of Ration wrappers and other rubbish - how many places can a squaddie hide rubbish in a Landy! -Try and drive it more!!!!! Initial query I have is on the dash light cluster both the screws are missing from either side - can anyone tell me the size of these - when I drive the vibrations cause it to come out - not as bad as the effect it has on me - but annoying to say the least! Thanks in advance and I look forward to many a post Taffia.
