  1. I have just had a 300tdi auto conversion on my '95 110 ex MOD FFR (was 2.5Na) and in the end went for a Griffin exhaust - haven't played fully yet but the quality is excellent and lifetime warranty plus they can tweak it to you needs. 3" pipe that doesn't wake the neighbours at 6am - I wanted better breathing, long term warranty and quality! Customer service was excellent and I am looking forward to giving it a full review once I can get some proper miles on it and have some dials fitted for temp, boost, revs and egt Taffia.
  2. Thanks - interesting to find out - will share once I get it. Taffia
  3. Hi JumpingJack - can I ask how you got the history?
  4. Satans sock draw - why didn't that come up in the search. Thanks for the pointer - will have to clean my keyboard! Taffia
  5. Evening, Just got my ex mod 110 back after a 2.5na to 300tdi auto conversion and I am still trying to get the grin off - but this is untuned at the moment and I have been advised to get a EGT fitted - I have to fit all the new dials temp, boost, rev etc. I have done a search but can't see anything on fitting an EGT Gauge - going through the EGR plate. Seen some on ebay but sensor varies a lot - length of sensor especially and digital is going to be better than analogue for response - I think! Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks Taffia.
  6. Hi - I have just had one fitted to my 95 ex MOD 110 (part of a recent 300tdi transplant - more to follow). I have hear tell of a special pipe that sits between the snorkel and the air filter box which has a 'bucket' on the bottom to allow the collection of any water with a value on it - assuming this value clears the water as it builds up. I thought it was just a straight pipe - anyone heard of this or is it just another 'Red Herring' - I seem to be on a large 'fish' diet at the moment ! Thanks in advance. Taffia.
  7. Thanks Boydie always cool getting advice from global members:-) Will update everyone when sorted.
  8. Hi, Diff was unlocked just driving on normal road. Didn't think it could be the clutch. Will have a read up as I thought it just worked on all gears or didn't. I read somewhere you can take the plate off from inside around the gear stick and boot and look in from inside. Mmmmm sounds like a crash course in transmission coming...... Or call to Ashcroft Thanks Taffia
  9. Hi All, Stopped at a junction in my ex MOD 110 2.5na with r380 gearbox and it went really stiff trying to get 1st. Finally got it in pulled off then moving up the gears realised there was no 5th. Pulled into a car park. Gears still really stiff still no 5th - reverse there OK though. Put it in low range and 5th was there. Never had any prob with the gearbox before and never really played with a gearbox so asking for any ideas. I have searched around and it doesn't sound like the layshaft has snapped as I have reverse. Read about how you can get to the gear box from inside the cab but not sure what to look for. Ashcroft seem the answer to all prayers but it will cost the best part if 1k to swapped it out with fitting but this was going to be a 100% diy project Any advice or pointers are appreciated as always. Thanks taffia
  10. Thanks everyone. I feared it wouldn't fit. I will try a few suppliers and see what they say. Swimming pool it is for now
  11. Hi, I have a 1995 110 with what looks like the original canvas - and now quite a bit of Gorilla tape! I was looking for a replacement and saw the new PVC type canvas off Wolf etc on ebay. Can I just swap and fit one of these or are the fittings differant - are they better than canvas? Appreciate any feedback as otherwise I am thinking of starting an allotment in the back of my 110 as it has a very good sprinkler and irrigation system at the moment! Thanks Taffia (Moist but not sodden)
  12. Just to keep everything together has anyone tried these? http://www.outbound4x4.co.uk/shop/exterior-accessories/lighting/defender-led-sidelights They do stop and tail too - seem to be the only ones I can find from a known company as it were rather than taking a punt on ebay. Thoughts and feedback appreciated as always? Taffia
  13. Thanking you - three switches ordered as I couldn't choose a colour and wanted to maximise the post! Thanks
  14. Hi, I was trying to find a non LR switch option for the spare switch space on the right knee (technical term) switch bank. Does anyone know if here are any switches that fit the space that are not LR as they are about £15 each. Simple on/off black rocker would be great - need some lights inside my ex mod 110 as the other morning I had trouble finding the truck let alone the ignition key hole in the dark Thanks Taffia
  15. Mmmm going to add it to my Christmas list - if its good enough for Rally Drivers
  16. Im afraid I completely agree - I asked the same question a few months ago - and I am on MOD cushions at the moment - seems way out of price! Let me know if you find somewhere - I would like to get some more comfort Good luck Taffia
  17. Thanks - Dash is the only thing I haven't taken apart yet I think! Got some dial bulbs to sort and I am still missing those screws holding in the warning light panel so maybe a good time to go for it. At the moment - enjoying soaking passengers Taffia
  18. Morning, Got a 110 1995 Ex-Mil Soft top and was doing a pre-MOT check this morning. Sitting in the drivers seat I pressed the screen wash and as well as it shooting water on the outside of the screen it also shot a jet of water straight at the passenger seat. I am sure that during Summer any passenger may find this quite refreshing not to mention the joke factor for the driver! The water is coming from the vent handle on the dash. I can see a clear pipe going to behind the vent from inside but how to get to the pipe - is it a dashboard off job? Just checking before I start another project - just finished the 'Fog Light Trail Thanks in advance - will be spraying passengers in the interim Taffia!
  19. To finish the story....................... Found the coloured wires but they had been cut deep in the loom. So as its military out came the central light switch and I jumped a live off the switch when driving lights came on - there was already a relay there wired to the new rear fog - bizarre - so perfect - ran two wires to new switch area - order switch as above - and magic - fog light working off a switch when driving and main beams on only! One of the best tools I found for this work or tracing any wire - is http://www.maplin.co.uk/cable-tracker-with-tone-generator-46536 There are cheaper ones around but boy does it save your time Thanks to everyone for input and if anyone needs more information let me know! Taffia - snows coming!
  20. Thanks again Western - I shall be venturing out to vehicle first thing - diagram in one hand, coffee in the other, ipad in back pocket
  21. I agree. I was advised to use a cheap oil and change regularly. But yes it goes from honey to tar very quickly
  22. Hi Was thinking of doing the same. Can you post some pics and how-to if you do it? Good luck
  23. Hi Got switch today found the connector in the gap red/yellow trace. Two wires going into the back of the socket both red/yellow on two pins but one wire has broken off. Is it just a case of reattaching the broken wire to second pin. Looks like its the case. Connector fits switch perfectly. Just wondering if there is a wiring diagram with colours anywhere? First electrical job but I am hoping to do it myself as that was my commitment when purchasing my first defender. Thanks
  24. Hi, And thanks - on other sites there are two switch models - I noticed but this one seems to supersede all the others. Have ordered switch and lets hope its 'plug and play'......who am I kidding Will let you know. Thanks Taffia
  25. Hi Western, Thats exactly what I have - hole in the column as per Pete's message above - but I also have the 3 switch panel to the right as per your picture - hazards on the middle and a hole to the left of that - looks like the switch is missing. Is it just a standard switch? - assuming the wiring is in there - I can see a couple of connectors floating around in there - lots of coloured wires Looking at the lights again on rear it seem the PO has installed the big square reversing light on the ns and then a square fog light on the other - but the two larger (than brake and tail lights) circular red lights are therefore redundant - assuming these were the original fog lights! Never a dull moment
