  1. VERY CHEAP INSURANCE....! being 21 insurance is very expensive on this its £83 a year fully comp with no no claims used and an excess of £50, can't really beat that.... I need to downsize tho, i just have far to many vehicles and a project that needs a few more ££££'s chucked at it.... I'd be happy with £2500 i think.
  2. I have a 1954 Series 1 hard top fitted with rear seats 3.5 V8 efi RR gearbox and transferbox defender front seats and fuel tank behind the seats/ rear bulkhead.......... Just wondering what its worth with a years test on it....? Need extra funds to complete my project....

  5. The winch is operated by a hydraulic hand pump just like a car jack, and yes the fold away is done by man-power.... I'm pretty sure the bits i have left go in the pump but just don't know where abouts or in what order etc....
  6. Using a press saves battering the carp out of anything.... done ona a few months ago, all is good

  8. Bloody hell...........!!!!!!!! I dont know how its that bad..... Uprated intercooler should give better MPG.... Just to wind you up my 110 csw 1992 200tdi was averaging 36MPG and on a long run would return 40MPG approx, no idea why but better than any i have heard of....? My work horse 110 with disco 200tdi g box and t box returns about 19mpg towing a trailer every day with turbo kicking in earlier and fuel pump tweaked..... the last 110 was superb tho wished i'd never sold it..... Can't understand why consumption is soooo bad on yours.... Get a jap engine...!!! lol same MPG flat out, taking it easy towing etc anything always stay steady well all the 6cyl engines i have had, have and do.....

  10. There is a complete kit available from a sweedish company...... That is fairly priced.... Here's one in birmingham, pretty expensive tho.... http://www.allabout4x4.com/landroverseriespowersteering.html There is quite alot of work in fitting PAS box, colum etc....? Up to you, i can't find the sweedish place just now, i'm sure the price wasn't too bad tho...
  11. Got everythingt freed up today cleaned and greased, elictrical points all cleaned up and had the winch working away. Everything seems fine, dog clutch slides backwards and forwards smoothly and with ease, forward and reverse lever is smooth and easy to move. Remote control and plug-in hand control are working as they should. It dragged the 109" up the drive effortlessly on tickover don't suppose rpm makes any difference tho with the hyd- pump being electric. Cheers for the help guys....
  12. I can't quite work out what the regulations are with MOT exemption, I have a 1975 109" recovery truck with rear crane and front winch i intend to use it as a recovery truck and therefore it will be insured as a recovery truck on a trade policy. Does this make it MOT exempt as it is purpose built and doesn't really have any other purpose Will i be able to use it to tow my own vehicles with no MOT and generaly run around in it or what are the specific regulations.. VOSA VERA RTA DVLA are not very specific on this.....??? HELP.... Thanks all....
  13. I have a Dixon-Bate folding recovery crane.... D-B TUCKAWAY -R SWL 1.5 ton Serial No. 25267 Fitted to my 109" recovery truck... I have been putting it together this morning with new seal kit... Got on fine apart from being left with a little spring, 2 O-rings and a little nut type thing a ball bearing sits on to the end of....... I would be greatfull of any help with this, they obviously go in the pump but where... Anyone with a parts catalouge, manual of some description or anything would be brilliant. Thanks in advance for any help..... Oh, i have e-mailed Dixon-Bate but they aren't open untill tuesday and i hope to have it done by then, thanks again........

  16. Heres 265/75r16's on the back of my series with parabolics and military shackles. And here's 245/75r16s on 1" offset rims with standard springs and shackles. Niether ever fowled..... 245/75r16's and inch offset is much and such the same as you are running...
  17. Guaranteed to be better than the scaby knackered old ones i pulled of and alot better than none lol
  18. Right difflock out in 1st jump out see which prop is spinning. Turn car off grap 9/16 spanners whip the prop off. If its the rear prop jack one side and spin the wheel look underneath at the diff flange if it spins then its the other shaft if it doesn't thats the culprite. Take out the drive flange bolts (17mm) might just be a stripped drive flange. If not pull the shaft out and use a magnet to extract remaining bits probs worth draining oil too. If diff doesnt turn atall it myt be the diff. at the front it could be a CV, Half shaft or diff.... you'll find out where by spinning yer wheels when jacked. then strip knackered side and replace what ya broke...
  19. I'm IV36 postcode, and i'm approx 25 miles east of Inverness. I wouldn't be able to send them untill next week at some point so will find out postage costs and let you know...
  20. No there is a definate good increase in height and articulation. The sway was terrible previously and is a bit worse now, once the gas shocks are on that should be cured a bit. The articulation is pretty damn good tho better than most lifted 90's and 110's around here and yes the departure angle is a bit less soon bump over things tho. lol
  21. Not quite 6" but not far off, no i don't have wheel spacers on but there is a massive 10" offset on my custom made wheels which is more than ample to get full lock with 40" tyres, new axles will be here this week anyway. The front crossmember is not supported and there is some flex in the chassis at the moment however i have 8" OD 6mm wall steel pipe thats getting welded in between the front spring hangers after they have been modified which will act as my bumper too. PAS isn't conected yet it will be a hydro assist set up everythings ready for it just need the axles....
