  1. Cheers Guys, The 50mm measure is what im after. Im modding a Warn 9000HS so that the standard 20 spline motors will fit. Cheers again
  2. Hi, Has anyone got a winch motor (Bowmotor, come up or Warn 20 spline input shaft) that they could measure the distance, from the end of the motor case to the end of the splined input shaft? Cheers
  3. The springs im using are LR NRC9448 and NRC9449 Defender 110HD spec in conjuntion with Gywns set-up. With an 8274 upfront and a rear winch this set-up works well for me. Ride hieght from standard was a little under an inch difference on my 90". True 33's are perfectly o.k with this set-up, and 34's, would not be a problem either. (Looking at running the Insa 285's soon) This link shows what LR has on offer, you could get a 1" lift possibly cheaper this way. http://members.shaw.ca/jbarge/springinfo.html I ran BritpartHD springs before that and they were very unforgiving in comparative to the LR ones. Hope that helps, Mark
  4. Hi I have been looking at 01 to 03 (Td4) plate Freelanders. But i sense from scrolling through this section and others, that there seems to be a fair few problems with their reliabilty. Im thinking that maybe if i asked present owners of them. "Would you have another?" I maybe able to guage if ownership would be wise? The vehicle will be for my retired parents, and i would like a good reliabilty factor. But at the same time, backyard servicing feasable. Cheers for any response Mark
  5. Maybe im a little behind whats available? The Fronius/Lincoln sets that i use at work are silly money (5K+) But all have Continous HF. When trying to weld Ally without it, seems pretty awkward, if your electrode drifts away from the weld pool for a split second. The Cont HF, seem to just ease that? Maybe im just carp at it Maybe i need to look into all the new technology available using a 240 single phase set? My heads spinning........cheers for the reply. This subject is mine field (head spinninig) Cheers Mark
  6. Ah well! Some grown up will come along and move it to the "Right" section Cheers for the link anyway
  7. Your right there The price you pay for a 240v set is silly money. Hav'nt found a 240v set that has "Continous HF" on it? Why do i want continous HF? Its what i use at work on Alluminium, and it makes life alot easier
  8. Morning Gents, Looking at 2nd hand 3 Phase welders at present, but not having a 3 Phase supply has led me to looking at 3Ph Generators. Theres a few about, that are reasonably priced at around the 6Kva power rating (5.5Kva Continous) With the capability to run sensitive equipment on them. Am i being too optimistic, to think this power output. Would cope with say 250amp max for AC tig? Cheers Mark
  9. If i were to remove the 300Tdi lump from my truck and chuck another engine in, such as a V8. Is it just a case of notifying DVLA and thats it, or are there more to it? I would asume maybe an engineers report mabe needed? Any enlightenment on this subject, gratefully accepted. Cheers Mark
  10. Ebay, there's a couple (at least) of good sellers on there. One i may add seems to have lot of Ex-mil stuff. So the BSF's etc for LR come up qiute often.
  11. This is what i done, been tested a few times. Made it so i can run it out the back if things go belly up. http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopi...hl=Centre+Winch Mark

  14. Just wondering if 37" tyres will clear the front outriggers. Plus would i get away with no lift, if im happy to do some trimming Cheers Mark
  15. I 2nd Dormer, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dormer-drill-set-1-1...1742.m153.l1262 One of these can help too? Thats if you dont fancy having a go sharpening yourself, using bench grinder? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DRILL-SHARPENER-shar...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Screw Fix, do Dewalt at a good price. But never used them. Mark
  16. Cheers Steve, Makes life a little easier to get a pair of axles from one donor truck, rather than 2. Am i correct in assuming the Land Cruiser axles is offset and more suited to the LR driveline? ATB Mark
  17. Good write up, Just checking though, am i correct in thinking you used a Nissan GQ front axle and a Toyota landcruiser (80 Series) rear, or did you use the rear axle off the GQ? Cheers Mark
  18. OOooh! Theres some nice goodies on that website..............
  19. Thats what i thought would be the best option, i was looking at the "Microbore" range used in central heating ( http://www.wickes.co.uk/Radiators/Microbor...ube/invt/420700 ) Looked at the Goodridge and Aeroquipe type range, but that gets expensive quickly.
  20. Evening all, Working on a Project at the moment and have relocated a fuel tank. But now need to plumb in some fresh fuel lines. Looking for advice on the best way and where to source Hose and fitments for the job. What are the required standards for fuel lines and fitment? The main fuel line runs along the chassis rail and has a "Quick Disconnect" fitting on the end. This allows you to disconnect the fuel tank with relative ease. But unfortunalty the new location for the fuel tank, means extending the lines is going to be neccesary. Cheers for any advice Mark
  21. My intentions were use for challenge wing material, 1 metre square sheets, say 5-10mm thickness. The material seems popular in the states for applications that can take a beating. See piccy below, as the boatsides on this XJ are said material. Searched UHMP on the bay and came up with these Hawse's though. Not what i was looking for but, interesting. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WINCH-HAWSE-UHMW-for...A1%7C240%3A1318
  22. Morning, Scouted around the www, but hav'nt come accross a UK supplier. Anyone used it before, or know of a supplier? Cheers Mark
  23. Cheers, Air controls is by a tube with a tapered round bar made to slide in and out of the tube. At the backend a Fressh air supply for the chimney (helps vent gases) Plus a smaller secondary vent (10mm ID) that can draw the fire to the rear of the burner. Fire bricks to the rear inside, help hold the warmth. Baffle plate: Dampner in Chimney Hope that helps? Burning off Paint, ready for spraying
