  1. The way of the squirt has removed the hidden demons of the V8. Only then can one enter the water without consequence But its the added input of LPG im concerned with? Of Topic: Why are the Jeep 4.0ltr 6 Cylinder engines more reliable in the swimming contests? I see XJ's and TJ's playing happily now and then? They run distributors?
  2. Could there be any issue with the Vapouriser being submerged for long periods? For example, the nose of the truck is dumped in a hole with water up over the bonnet, while your winching through it? Cheers
  3. Can you run LPG on a truck thats going to be more than likely be swimming at points in its off-road life? At the moment i have RRC with a 4.2 efi running on LPG, but have plans to run it off-road. Yeah i know the V8's give up when around water. But it would seem many forum members are addressing that problem, with success. Cheers Mark
  4. Cheers Chaps, I have been looking at the Syncrowave 300p and Aircrafter ST330 or as mentioned to me by another forum member, the Dialarc models. The Miller www has loads of info and have been trying to get on the Forum for awhile. Mark
  5. Anyone know a UK based company that can get Spares for Miller Welders? Aint got a Miller welder yet, but need to know if i can get spares for the Older machines? Cheers Mark
  6. Done a Dana 30 (Front Axle TJ) awhile back. All pretty straight forward, though a Dti torque wrench for the Crush sleeve is needed. As you need to set the Rolling torque value as required by manufacture (but not sure if the 35, uses a crush sleeve) A 3/4 Torque wrench can be handy, so you can increment your torque on the crush sleeve, untill you reach the desired rolling torque. Otherwise its a gently does it approach with 1/2" Ratchet. Hope that helps?
  7. Yes i have tried, but to no luck They are a tough company to get hold off at the best of times! I just want to sort the issue out, with as little hassle as possible.
  8. Evening all, Just wondered if anyone on here has had problems with Straightforward Supplies ebay username alias "horseclub" ? It would seem that a friend and I have been ripped off by them The pair of us, won individual auctions for some spotlights 2-3weeks ago. But to date have not received a bloody thing!! Absolutley no response from them through the correct procedures! Ebay>Paypal Disputes etc? The cost per pair of spots were a mere £27.00, but it would seem they are happy to rip us off? To which i cant believe would be the case? But im just wondering if anyone else has had such a bad experiance with them, through their ebay alias? Im more ticked off! That i am wasting my time trying to resolve the issue than the actual loss of £27.00 Anyone know where they would stand with "Trading Standards" over an issue like this? I would assume traders dealing through Ebay, would still have to trade by the Standards??? Cheers Mark
  9. Just a quick question? What bolt size is required for the rear crossmember on a Disco1, to bolt the towing bracket to? Cheers mark
  10. I have used Hylomar in the past. No problems to date Mark
  11. Cheers Glenn, something to do Today, as i have got bored of Mince Pudds and Turkey
  12. Evening All, Just picked up a Tow Hitch for the Disco1. The tow electrics are there with the standard type LR connector, ready to plug in. But where is the connector located on the wiring loom on the rear of the Disco? Cheers Mark
  13. How about modding a G-clamp? Maybe using a ground down bolt as the press pin? Gaffer tape to locate the crimp and onto G-clamp foot? Hav'nt tried it but sounds feasable? Mark
  14. Evening All.. Doing the Crossiere Blanc event just after Crimbo. But need to sort out snow chains and if needed a set of tyres. I have Insa Turbo Simex copies, but would this type of tyre be too aggressive to put snow chains onto? I would hazard a guess and say it is common to run a Mud Terrain type. But dont really wont to pay out for a set of tyres that are gonna be used for the one event. Any advice mucho appreciated........... Mark
  15. Die Material used EN24T- A tough material that has a tendancy to work hardened upon use. Material choice was what was in the scrap bin. Hardened and ground would be the way to go. But not needed IMHO....... I used a 20tonne Press to "Swage" the holes in 4mm plate easily. I would reckon using a fly press wouldnt be ideal? Not my truck, just an example of someone getting a little over excited with the dies Stiffness as opposed to Strengthen. I stand corrected but now educated Mr Bishbosh strengthen; To make strong or increase the strength of. stiffen; To make or become stiff or stiffer. stiffness; Synonyms: stiff, rigid, inflexible, inelastic. These adjectives describe what is very firm and does not easily bend or give way. Stiff, the least specific, refers to what can be flexed only with difficulty.
  16. Yer right there, but i sense you may question thier actual effect? "Makes holes look very intentional" Sort of like: "Bling with a purpose"
  17. The Plate in the piccies were of 3mm and 4mm plate (this is light guage to me, where i work). 3mm with the 1 3/4 Holes and 1" (Final Plate) Any guage of plate could be used really. The Die is in 2 halfs the Pin locates the Upper and Lower centrally. When pressed the pin moves through the die. Image 2 shows the Lower die on the left. The Hole is pre-drilled or a Holesaw can be used and then the Die forms the "Dimple" Hope that helps?
  18. Had some spare time and thought i would have a go at the simple "Dimple Die" Very efective way to increase the strength of small guage plate. Plus it looks pretty good aswell. Not seen to much use of them this side of the pond, but may just have to find an excuse to now An example of what happens if you really, really like the effect
  19. JD2 Model 3 and using BendTech software to make designing bits easier. Popular in the States and seen on Pirate alot. Simple to use and Tubela can supply you with the Bender and Die sets for Pipe or Tube and Square. Upto 2" Tube, no metric dies though, off the shelf. Whomever i spoke to at Tubela rated them too, and was a helpful chappy. http://www.jd2.com/ http://www.2020softwaresolutions.com/cmps_index.php Got mine from straightforward but they have changed for the more expensive protools benders now. Not actually manufactured anything of good use yet though
  20. Yep for sure its the Starter.............Too many Shandies i believe for me Anyway, no point in posting up another thread though, so will have to put up with the stick coming
  21. Any idea why/what would of caused this to happen? It would seem the solenoid arm has been hitting the casting? Luckily had an old Alternator and replace the cast...... (Alternator on a Sunday morning after Beer = Starter Motor, by the way )
  22. Popped along to see the site and give some support to KCJ in the black Jeep/Mog Hybrid. Was impressed to see it drive this section. I know the Jeep had a few problems but i reckon KCJ had fun
  23. Castrol UK in Swindon Wilts might be worth calling? Castrol HysolG is the cutting fluid name. A solubable oil concentrate, for general purpose material removal. We use it on all ferrous/non ferrous materials. Conventional and CNC based machines use it with no problems. No corrosion problems it would seem? More like the water dissapates and leave the oil content behind. http://www.engineeringtalk.com/news/cst/cst000.html
