  1. Hi everyone, Clutch in my Disco is like a switch, on/off and feels like it only has to move about an inch at the pedal! She's a 'J' plated 3.5i V8, obviously on a manual 'box. LPG has got the dash board petrol/LPG switchy over thing with level indicator if that makes any difference! Q1. I suspect the slave cylinder is responsible for the short clutch. What do you think? Q2. Does the LT77S (i think mine is ?) have the clutch fork problems where the slave punches through it like the early 90/110 did or was it on the R380? Q3. Anyone recommend a good LPG dealer near Hereford so i can have my system serviced or give me the gen so i can have a crack at it myself? Thanks very much
  2. I daresay someone will yell at me, maybe even you (!), but when i've recovered using 2 points like this photo i have the ends of the strop going to the recovery eyes and then a shackle in the 'v' of the strop to the winch or whatever. I was always told that it put too much pressure sideways and would either bend the point sideways or if on the front pull the chassis rails inwards? If the photo was just for illustration, feel free to tell me to f*** off! Love the idea of using old screw-in tow eyes though, i've added them to my list of bits to get from the breakers next time i'm there so i can blatantly copy your idea. Now, onto the important bit; How on earth did you managed to plug the gap in the door up once you took that massive chunk out of it? Close up pic of the modded door would be very much appreciated. Nice goggle action too B)
  3. I'm loving this one from that site; Bloody gorgeous. Happily do that to mine if the rear cross-member rots!
  4. On mine Dan, the spots sat tucked up against the bar and the base of the lamp was just behind the 'gutter line' (even though there isn't one!) so the roof stopped downward glare, and the lamps had those plastic mesh covers which have i guess a small 'hood' effect kind of like you alluded to. Mine were spot light lenses too, but i know a chap who had lots of glare and not much light because he had driving light lenses which had different pattern on the glass to mine. On this Disco, when i get my lightbar, i'll be fitting the little oval spot lights which will hopefully tuck up out of the way in a similar manner. If they don't, i'll make the mounts for them to sit higher and run a protective bar over the top of them and a peak underneath to stop glare.
  5. Wheel shake? I thought they were supposed to do that...
  6. Doh! Read that once i'd posted!
  7. Not sure if you've committed to buy one or not Al, but if not then Greenlane 4x4 are worth a go, that's where i got my last Disco one from. The lamps mounted below the bar so were reasonably were protected, for the sort of off-road i do anyhow.

    Very, just simple miniature 'D' shackles, like this;
  9. ... and also the earlier 3.5
  10. My mate's got the Harmann Kardon in his P38a. Awesome sound.
  11. My old 300 Tdi i built a sub box that fitted where the one rear box/7th seat goes. It was ported and with a 12" sub seriously kicked arse, well for a Landy it did!
  12. Wrong side of Ewyas Harold mate! My local garage is about a minute away, so convenient but 57p/litre. I'm told that with the MSF account my mate's doing for me it will be 37p/litre! Dunno! It's like a grey/blue/silver colour. If i decide i like driving it and then decide to keep it, i'll be painting it matt black. B)
  13. Thanks everyone, much obliged. Sorry Al, i hadn't got round to putting pictures up. But aye, here's my new baby; It's in pretty good nick apart from a few holes. Now all i need to do is get the courage up to weld next to an 80l gas tank...
  14. Hi, Don't laugh, this is a serious question. Rather than fabbing my own (out of old carp) replacement sills like i normally do, i'm actually buying the pucka stuff so i can hopefully save time and have a straight fit-in job. Been on the net and checked the major retailers and they've got the bits i need, all very fairly priced, but... are you ready? For the driver's side (UK, RHD car) do i need the one listed as left-hand or right hand? You'd think it's the right-hand one as the car itself is RHD, but the photo looks like the left-hand one. I was too embarrassed to phone Paddocks and ask. Any help gratefully appreciated, even if you do take the p1ss...
  15. My mate Thorpe is about to sell his. It's a cracking tool but (and don't tell him i said) it's not flash enough for him. He's into Beemers (tool). Anyhow, what to check; I'll ignore body because that's obvious. Most important, as i told Thorpe when he got his, is the air suspension and the gearbox buttons. If they all work then the bills wont be as big! Thorpe's has the BMW engine and goes really well for a big bus with a relatively small diesel and an auto tranny. Check the the alloys are right for the truck too. That might sound really minor, but if they've been changed for the wrong offset (which we saw on one truck) then it'll wear the tyres wrong and they aren't cheap to replace, if you replace them with quality tyres with the right load and speed rating. Try and get one with the Harmann Kardon stereo upgrade. Gobsmacked by the sound in Thorpe's. Best of luck with the search.
  16. My mate's Road Angel is great for cameras and also identifying mobile radar vans and laser copper guns. My Navman kicks its arse for directions though and can even navigate me on forest tracks.
  17. I had the police spec stuff on my Rangey, first class upgrade. Gave a good ride, not wallowey in the slightest, very rarely got overtaken on the tarmac! He's talking poop about a 2" lift though, mine was somewhere between 1" and 3/4" higher than before.
  18. and, before i sneak down to the local hostelry for a swift half, one of these too;
  19. Ooh, and at some point, some of this;
  20. After posting on the classifieds thread about the 200Tdi Disco that i'd entered negotiations on another Disco, i thought i'd best let you guys know... I've bought another Disco! That makes my 4th, we think! It's 'J' plate V8 with LPG and a few holes as well as an auto 'box. There are 7 seats and twin sunroofs as well as the obligatory tow pack. Once i've welderised it and applied some new black paint, which will hopefully be a tin of this; i can then start buying toys which will look like this; or this; or this; or this; or this; Did i mention one of these? and some of these at some point Photos to follow once i've picked it up!
  21. Agree with all the above. Mine was also passenger side of the seat box. Makes you look dead cool when you give someone a jump start by just plugging the lead in. B)
