  1. Ive been a mechanic since i left school 15 years ago at the time it was snap on or britool, then a tool bloke started up selling all sorts of stuff but for me it was signet or ko-ken both lifetime warranty half the price of britool or snaps! signet very good thin walled socketry and spanners but for hardcore abuse (plant hgv four foot scaffy bar on the end!) ko-ken all the way very thick impact socketry and large sockets. Same old thing though you get what u pay for ive bought cheap and regreted it especially at all hours of the day trying to get somebody away and the only spanner you have breaks! just my opinion its up to you to decide
  2. Yes ive moved to the dark side! Needed a new larger motor bought the 110 VERY cheap thought the steering wouldnt be to heavy compared to my 1959 2 on 35s but hells teeth its hard going! Everything is good nothing siezed or worn just a bit stiffer than im used to, not had a roadworthy landy for 2 years must have gone soft running about in euro boxes! Eventually gonna put the 2.8 isuzu outa the old girl in it but for now a little luxury in the form of light steering would be a godsend!
  3. Just a quikie bought a 110 2.5 NAD it has no power steering! I know where there is an old 2.5 TD with power steering (at least all the bits off of one) is it a straight bolt up job or should i buy more weetabix and spinich Any thoughts and inputs greatly recieved.
  4. Thats the sorta crawl ratio i wanted! Thanks for the input top notch as always
  5. Just fancied having another set of low gears as well as hi n lo for those moments where speed isnt the best policy! Still have green lane set of gears and getting on gears too thought about double transfer box idea but space is an issue, at least if you have a totally bolt on piece like a fairey if it goes pete tong you can just pop the old gear back in and away you go
  6. Pirate looks promising (some good stuff by mr van snorkle on there too) as you say anythings possible, was just looking at a pile of bits laying about n thought "i wonder". Will give me somthing to tinker with while im laid up!. Thanks again
  7. Hi all, anybody heard of/made/seen a fairy overdrive made into an underdrive? Just an idea i have floating about Any input always greatly received, thanks
  8. Would very much like to make a series into an auto keeping the original transfer box, had a search but only sparse info! Any suggestions greatly received have heard of a kit available many moons ago?? Many thanks
  9. Just got this months Petersons 4wheel and off road and saw these www.atomicaxles.com only a centre diff by the looks cant find much info elsewhere worth a look though
  10. Just on with putting a hi-lux front axle and 80 series in my landy, although im going spring over!! Just measure the spring saddles off your old rover axles cut of n weld to yota axles, diff flanges on the yota,s can be machined and re drilled to accept landy props then its just a case of matching your brakes and steering its a far easier job on a leafer than a coiler as its only fastned to the springs by u bolts no link bkts coil seats etc just make sure you get the perches lined up spot on then its fairly easy really
  11. Junk the landy axles fit toyota axles much stronger, disc brakes, good selection of ratios. hi lux axle bolts straight up S.O.A if thats ya thing just get a high steer conv from the U.S. Can also fit the E Locker from the front of 80 series and some none farm spec hi-lux to both axles
  12. Hi all i have gota chance of buying a safety devices roofrack and was wondering how it fits to the roof? All help and advice greatly recieved Thanks
  13. The axles you want are hdj80 series axle 4.1:1 ratio lockers front n rear electric but easy converted to cables. Look at plasticbadgers build for more info
  14. That about tells it all really, thanks for your reply.
