  1. The green and purple is giving 12v as you'd expect at the back of the car. No voltage when not pressed 12v when a foot is on the brake But as soon as I connect the cable to a lamp I get nothing
  2. to confirm not sure if I'm being clear in my explanation so i will try type it better basically the green and purple wire at the back of the loom is measuring 12v when it is not connected to anything. the second i connect it to any circuit the 12v disappears.
  3. i got a live off the brake light down at the back and confirmed it by getting my dad to press it while i had a test probe on it but when i connected it up it went dead on me
  4. Yes I've put the receiving brake lamp to a known live and they both illuminate! So confusing? The only thing I can think of is its a worn out old cable with possible beaks somewhere down it?
  5. Ok I have everything working apart from the brake lights now! I found the green and purple to be a live with my little illuminating tester probe but when I connected it and tested again nothing so I'm 100% sure jt was working now nothing? Any ideas? All fuses are also ok? I'm baffled
  6. yes i did have the ignition on haha although i have been testing electrical faults before and forgot to this time i did remember! as for the quick test you talk about could you give me more info on how to do it? thanks
  7. ok I'm getting nothing down at the back end for brake lights. could this be an issue with the switch on the pedal? if so how easy is this to replace? is the reverse switch easy to get to also as i am not getting anything down at the back for this( this is not such a big problem as i may just run a work light from an independent switch and i believe this is ok for an mot. and with regards to the indicators I'm pulling my hair out here.

Hi all Rebuilding my defender and at the final sort of stages and having murder with the lights I've managed to get everything working apart from the reverse light brake lights and the passenger side indicators. With regards to to indicators the relay was buzzing when switched to passenger side so I changed it and now it's clicking as It should but still no lights I'm measuring no Voltage at the front but I do have the rear blinker working? What is next basically? Also what colours are reverse light? And what colours are brake lights I can't seem to find them anywhere?
  9. yes don't have to be ally i would take any material i just want flashy!! but for 300 i think i will give them a miss looks like its just boring black ones for now
  10. haven't read all the comments so somebody may have beaten me to it or it may not be possible but how about riveting on your headlight covers? or like you say security screws?
  11. do you have any pictures of your 33's on 8"rims by any chance? if you could take one in line with the body so I can see where it is to the standard arch that would be a lot of help! with regards to what I want them for I do occasionally go off road but its more for looks I don't drive very hard off road only some midly damp fields and ruts nothing that should be too much for any wheel.
  12. ok i seem to be confusing myself more and more. at a guess what would you say those wheels and tyres were on that silver defender i posted eariler?

The bf Goodrich tyres I want come in 33/12.5/15 r and I have the choice of 15x 10 or 15x8 Rims The guy advised me that 10's will come out the arch and 8's will rub slightly on full lock I'm thinking of just going for the 10's and hoping they don't stick out too much Thanks for all that info that has helped a lot you wouldn't happen to have any pics of the 33/12.5/15 on 10 and 8 inch rim??

Hi guys Basically about to spend a lot of money on wheels and tyres and I want to make sure they are right I want the biggest I can get without having to put bigger arches on (don't like the look of them) I'm was going to get 15x10 steel rims with 33/1250r15 AT tyres but I think these will be out of the arch slightly I've now seen online some 31/1050r15 tyres Would these be a better fit for me? Would they still go on the 10x15 rims? I don't mind if they are ever so slightly out of the arches I just don't want to take the tiddle with them Any help would be great thanks

  19. I have a 90 that just has half doors and no roof or anything just two seats and a windscreen i really like the look of the old split series screen does anybody know if these fit a 90 it is an old 84 90 so has the hinges etc

  21. yeah i thought that they would possibly want to slip off the shoulder. i will keep eyes out for one of those brackets at a reasonable cost or may consider fitting a 3 point harness to each seat.
  22. hello i am currently rebuilding my 90 with canvas roof and military roll bar for mounting the seatbelt to. i really like the simple look of the half doors with the tops removed and the roll bar off so it is literally just my torso and the windscreen that is higher than the tub and i plan to keep it garaged and is my second car so the terrible brit weather doesn't put me off. my question with regards to the seatbelts is this... would i be ok to bolt the seatbelt to the body rather than have the military roll bar or any other type of bar?
