  1. Who needs a digger for excavating land? Just call these boys in! They will even do it for free!!!!
  2. Every time I see that... truely is the best top gear ever, and it was indestructible, just don't like the looks of them though. and if I laid my hands on an E reg hilux, I'd probably do the same. on a side note, anyone read the comment at the side of the video. obviously from some yank not quite understanding.
  3. The problem is, Japanese engineers and designers, originally copied every western design under the sun (no pun intended), and then improved upon it, as in britain we haven't the money or the market to actually develop anything of our own to any real success. the same does not just apply to cars, it applies to everything we do, not enough money gets put behind it, and it ends up just being a bit rubbish and too expensive.
  4. a little off the topic all of a sudden, but still on rolling. Armed forces racing wolves I found this, theres a video on their webpage of them rolling a defender Wolf XD. I love the way they are so hard that they roll it back over and carry on racing!
  5. wow! just watched the video, that looked like a hard drop! professional looking recovery though (turning it back over, not the failed hill climb!)
  6. yes, I'm sure they'd have had a big discount if rover was in the deal!
  7. Probably stick it in a bank for a start, given that you'd get over £10k EVERY DAY settle my debts and do something similar to this guy: except I already have the first bit, but saving for a week and getting the airline pilots license.. hmm.. just like John Travolta. and I'd buy a fair lump of an aircraft for charter company.
  8. Whats that mum parked her car so inconsiderately under the tank for!?
  9. my hope exactly, we installed coachbolts and big padlocks to the doors on the wolf, as a deterrent, but as the guy in the body shop observed, if they have any brains, they would unscrew the door hinges! so we're having that made teef proof. Security glass helps too. Security of course they'd have to repaint it quick if they wanted to get it down the road without sticking out like a sore thumb if they were after the actual truck.
  10. slightly off the subject, but my older brother in december 2004 (dates are important here) was attacked by a group of 6-10 lads during a night out, they put a bottle across his head, my brother managed to leave the place, and was given a headstart by the bouncers, unfortunately this group caught up with him in their car, jumped out and brutally attacked him, the girl he was with knew a few of them, so we were able to give names and addresses to the police. my bothers face needed 3 metal plates to reconstruct his face. the police told us that these guys had no previous convictions, so were not arrestable.. they didn't even check, they all had previous charges of assualt battery ABH you name it.. 3 months passed and they sent a letter to them asking "when would it be convenient to arrest you?" and got a letter back saying "some time next month would be fine" after they can put together an alaby (however you spell it) when they tell the police their story, they tell my brother that he is lying and that he attacked them, or that they weren't there. the police believed them! my brother is not stupid, he would not attack 6 guys. come june 2005, 6 months after the attack, two of them finally go to court. in august 2005 one got away with it, and the other was given a few hours community service. for GBH with intent (to murder?) maximum sentence for this is 15 years. honestly I think that is criminal. when these people do become criminals, they know that no matter what happens they will get away with it. as for witnesses, the bouncer changed his story half way through, and in the middle of a busy town at 11pm on a saturday night noone "saw" this happening. 2 hours later someone was murdered on the same street. it might have been the same people.
  11. not quite what you were after, but this is really cool, especially the one with the hilux - I just like indestructible vehicles. top gear
  12. I have also been looking at the Sankey Trailers, are they up to the job, knowing that the MOD don't let anything go unless it has been abused by a whole batallion of squaddies and driven over a land mine. (of course at £500 I could spend £2000 and replace a lot of it with what I want.) do you think its up to the job? NATO hitch is ideal as we have one on the wolf. Petergg really keen on that trailer on e-bay, your not hoping to bid on it are you. don't want to drive up the price between the two of us! The only thing that is really putting me off those desert wolf trailers as you say is the price. Nick
  13. Thanks Guys, I'll definitely follow the advice on looking into making my own, problem is, I want something that is pretty garaunteed to keep working, thats why I'm buying a GPS as opposed to making one, (no its not black magic). Possibly that trailer is a tad expensive for a second hand one, but I'll keep an eye on it, and if it looks like not selling, I'll offer a lower price.
  14. These people do that as given, but If I go elsewhere, I'll bear that in mind. Thank you.
  15. Forgive me, I was talking rubbish earlier. There are no plans on this trip taking any longer than 12 months. I don't know what came over me! thanks for pointing that out, pretty certain the guy who is organising that aspect of the trip is aware of that. Thanks for the links Margaret.
  16. Thank you very much mike, Thats very helpful. Hope to get to some shows later in the year, but will have to see.
  17. Hopefully, we shouldn't be needing new springs, but thanks for the suggestion, I had already thought of it as a useful place to store spare tyres, and I really like the idea of having a rooftent on the trailer. We chose our wolf because the idea was it would stand up to much more abuse than a standard defender or camel trophy vehicle. The Wolf wheels added to that, don't suppose anyone knows where/ how to get more if we need them? ours were included in the truck with 2 spares already.
  18. between 3-6 people for a round the world trip (not via SA though) and should take a maximum of 18 months. Information on Fridges if you have any suggestions, trying to pay for as little as possible, its surprising how much people give you when you say that you may appear in land rover magazines and tv sporting their logo!
  19. Hello, I was browsing the net for ideas on storage for my expedition, and stumbled across this, I hadn't really thought of trailers before, but this looks the muts nuts, and it would seem to match our wolf with the name and the lockers on the side, has anyone had any experience with these people/ their product. I'll be dealing with the UK importer. Is it as good as it looks/ is claimed to be? Or are they too much hassle for a big expedition? Desert Wolf Trailers I'd probably paint it gold. (see my website in the footer)
  20. Thanks, but I bet it would be taking the mick to ask less than £1k, sorry, am a bit skint, that one was going to be a quick investment, incase it was worth more after some work, certainly didnt look like it needed a clean like yours! Thanks anyway, Nick
  21. I BET! good points though, I just hope they do wake up to what reality is actually about. I'm all for conserving the environment, and taking action against greedy polluters, Equally I HATE ignorance! hope it gets read past "counterpoint"
  22. No, I lost it in the last 5 seconds! But at least I saved myself some money!
  23. trusting you enough not to tell me its not worth it, and buy it yourselves as you probably already own one. but is this worth it? the car it will probably cost me £30 to get there and £30 in fuel. so at least £700 in total. is it a waste of money? Thanks in advance Nick
