  1. Thanks for all the replies, I'm just pricing all the genuine parts against the Britpart kit. regards, rocky
  2. Hi, have looked at the swivels on my '90 and they are rusted and pitted--and leaking. Have been on paddocks website and they have them priced at £68.72 + vat, part No.FRC7065DEFKIT, anyone know if these are ok (as in well made) or should I go for Genuine ones? Regards, rocky
  3. Thanks Western, much appreciated. rocky
  4. Are the wolf wheels heavy duty? regards, rocky
  5. I'll add my own reply to that, yes, 7X16. found it on the net. rocky
  6. Hi, I'm sure this question has been raised before, but I can't find it. My defender has 205X80X16 on 51/2JX16, if I wan't to put 235X80X16 or 235X85X16 will I need bigger wheels? Regards, rocky.
  7. I think I'll have a re-think and have a look round some of the forums. Regards, rocky
  8. Yes, the reason behind the detroit is, because the 90 is fairly light on the rear end it would give more grip in snow conditions. It is easy to fit and doesn't require a compressor. As for an ARB in the front, the extra weight would increase the grip with both front wheels driving. If you think my idea is flawed, please advise. Rocky
  9. Thanks for the replies, it does seem ideal for my needs, I could always fit an ARB locker in the front if the need arose. Regards, rocky.
  10. Hi, does anyone have any experience of detoit limited slip diffs. I'm thinking about fitting one to the rear of my '90, mainly for use in snow with a bit of greenlaning. Any advice greatly appreciated. Regards, rocky.
  11. Thanks for the reply, I'm going to try to fix it in the cubby box in the vehicle, it doesn't have a compartment for one but it might fit along the side or the back edge of the box with the speaker cut into the front. I'm trying not to spend too much dosh on the fitment as the wife is moaning about all the other accessories that I'm buying. Regards, rocky
  12. Hi, anyone any ideas where I can fit a cb radio in the cab of my 90 tdci. The only place on the dash is taken up with a radio, there is a cubby box between the front seats. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Regards, rocky.
  13. Road tax for mine was £185 for 1st April 2010. rocky
  14. Hi, I've just bought one, albeit 2007. It has far more power than my 300 tdi. The interior of the standard 90 is a bit spartan but the dash is quite neat. All I have in the back is a rubber liner at the moment but I am looking to chequerplate the entire loadspace. I have pulled a couple of lorries in the snow this year with the 300 but have yet to tow anything with the tdci, though some guys who have told me they are great. The other good thing about 90 commercial is the lower road tax in the UK. Regards, rocky
  15. Hi, thanks for the replies, just trying to find out what's needed for engine servicing, I presume the running gear will be the same as the other 90's. Regards, rocky
  16. Hi, I am trying to get hold of a workshop manual and parts manual for my tdci 90. I've looked at the Haynes website and it seems that they haven't printed one yet. If anyone has any pointers I would be most grateful. Regard, rocky.
  17. Hi, I used clear waxoyl inside chassis/doors etc, and black for outer chassis and under body. Not too messy and it doesn't take long. Cleaning and drying takes the time. Regards, rocky.
  18. Hi,I use 5/30 magnetec,in the LR handbook it states it is ok up to an ambient temperature of 35 deg C, it never gets that hot in scotland. 5/40 covers -30 to +50 deg C. If your engine uses oil it be better with 10/40 or 15/40. regards, rocky
  19. Hi,I have just bought a tdci 90 (07) plate, collect it on Friday. Are they are ok in snow? I have a disco 1 300. Tried to get to The Braes of Glenlivet this morning where I work and managed to get within 1.5 miles before I was beaten by huge drifts. After 36 miles of 12+ inches of snow, drifts and virtually no visibility the disco performed brilliantly. I can only hope that the 90 is as good. regards, rocky
  20. Hi, mine did that, so I replaced it with a new one. If you replaced it with a brand new one it shouldn't leak. Can't think of any sealant which will cure a leak in that place. Regards, rocky
  21. Hi, mine didn't mayonnaise(300tdi), just pressurised and heater went cold. rad hoses were solid. Regards, rocky
  22. I suppose I will keep it, boiler man, most of the work would be cosmetic + new discs and pads, one n/s swivel and a boot floor. Might get away with a dab of weld on the rear crossmember. I have bought myself a defender 90 tdci, so no parts are interchangeable (i haven't checked out wheather the transfer box will fit), so it is either sell it for spares or restore it. Regards, rocky
  23. Thanks for the replies and the help. Thanks, rocky
  24. Hi, is it possible to remove (or move) the rear bulkhead on a defender 90 tdci so as to get the seats to go back a bit. I think I read somewhere that there is a bar that will go across the loadspace in place of the bulkhead. Any help greatly appreciated. Regards, rocky
  25. Hi anyone got an idea what my disco would be worth for spares-engine and boxes sound. Deciding wheather to spend some time restoring usual bits, boot floor etc., of flog it for spares. Regards, rocky
