True, coil systems are always more complicated because you have to keep the axle in place with extra control arms and things. Leaves are actually an amazingly elegant form of suspension, the leaf acts as both spring and control arm all in one.
If you have a good S3 box, treat it right and it should last OK - you just need to bear in mind they were designed for 62bhp and 205R16 tyres.
I've tried a quick Google but can't find any info on Timm's Series 1 only his S3. Any pointers?

Paddy and when it's playing up C*nt

I think you need to swallow your pride mate. it's harsh as you've paid for it and it's not upto scratch, but in my experience you suck it up and make best of what you've got for two reasons:
1- you want you truck back
2- do you really want to be arguing for ages about a poxy injector pump?
Follow Les' advice and make the new pump work with your old top cap.

my guess is that its used to equalise the pressures either side of the seperator. helping the seperator work more efficiently?

just got an E71 and it's a corker! better than a blackberry less gay, and strong to boot!

i founf the big end nuts a pain. Ended up using rounded star shape sockets. Use a cheapo honing tool run it slow and use plenty of thin oil. Put a rag down the bore to stop the swarf hitting the crank

mine has a weird setup it sits taller than a 1'' lifted defender. I can only conclude it has the hd spring setup?
Sorry for hi jack

oh well just a thought.

even if you left itall standard an replaced the hubs with portal types?
-
i had a thought on the way home, a freelander on portal hubs - how viable?

the boots would be useful for keeping road salt off the chromes, but need to either be fully water tight ( but will still draw water in and out when wading as the shocks moves) or remove the boots totally.

just unscrew the fan off the pulley and leave the belt well alone young man! it drives, PAS pum, water pump, alternator and possibly AC so unscrew the fan and leave it alone.

but i don't require this type of mount
just thinking from an engineering point of view tha the bigger bush would take up more vibration but have the same end result.
-
good idea from QT but i'd be inclined to make my own using a larger front radius arm bush to get that bit more deflection without sacrificing strength.

if i can send a cheque then yes please?
-
welcome, very much in the same mindset as myself, decent tyres are all you need

Munkie! as i told yer at the weekend you will need the heat to start it. Get those caps on the valves and set the tappets, now John's done the head gasket it should go.

i have a 24spline outer series axle, range rover hubs, and calipers. all i gotta do is make it work
-
and they're a pain - got them on my transit and i hate them
best idea would be a device to lock the brakes on and park it places where a hiab will struggle to get to.

can I ask what vehicle the turdblower came from?
-
i hope it's not running on engine oil, and is just the fuel stop.
-
gearbox - remove rubber around gearstick, feed in tube and place in gearbox filler hole. other end place funnel and fill with oil. easy and clean.

well said FF there seems to be more of these "clowns with a welder" who produce an abomination that last 10mins and then is worthless when it's rotted out.
