ianmayco68
Hi all, I've got diesel coming back up the injector from cylinder 1all the others are fine , I've had the injector out 3 times and refitted it with a new washer have also fitted a new genuine spill rail to rule that out and its still happening . Anybody got anything else I can try before I fork out for some recon injectors ? If I brought new nozzels can you fit them your self ? Any help greatly appreciated as always cheers Ian. easytiger
Sorry I don't have the answer to your problem, but I can recommend someone if you need to get your injectors tested / refurbished. I used http://www.bobbeckfuelinjection.co.uk/ and they tested the injectors for free, then refurbished them with new nozzles at £40 each (others had quoted £100 each). steve200TDi
I guess first you need to find the cause of the leak! Is the washer being squashed evenly? Can you see if the mating face of the injector is flat? Or it could be the seat in the cylinder head which is dirty, scored, damaged etc. But if you do require new nozzles, best let a injector specialised do it as they can re shim them up to 200 bar opening pressure! ianmayco68
When I took the injector out to try and reseat it the washer looked fine no marks or anything , the injector was covered in black soot all up, its not wet round the spill rail or the injector pipe only round the hole were the injector sits in , will fetch it out again and try and clean it out with a rag . I've only just rebuilt her, head was tested even had the injectors and pump checked by a friend of a friend who worked at a diesel specialist but they stood for over 12 months before I actually finished her and put her on the road. Its only just started doing it ,it was fine when I first started using her daily. Ian
Mo Murphy
Don't the injector seals have a crush segment that should be compressed ? Only you say it looked unmarked. Could the injector not be seating properly ? Mo
ianmayco68
Cheers Mo , when I said unmarked I meant it didn't look like it had been tightened down on something but now you've said that perhaps I haven't tightened them down enough. So think the plan of action is take them out the weekend clean out the holes clean the injectors then see how it goes . cheers Ian

ianmayco68
Yes Steve got the LR workshop manual , but can't remember if I used a torque wrench when I put them back in .
ianmayco68
Hi all , took all the injectors out cleaned the holes out cleaned injectors and refitted them with new washers, torqued them down and all seems to be ok. I did tighten them to the correct torque when I did the rebuild but a couple came loose and I just tightened them back down so perhaps I didn't tighten them enough, cheers everyone for the advice .
