DiscoNewB
Good day to all, I have been hunting for a good auto box for td5. I never get my box diagnosed for the fault, now I found an accident disco 1 v8. The guy is selling me a complete car. I would like to know if I can use the torque converter from my v8 in my Td5. What are the technical issues to look out for.. cheers percy
L90-v8
it could be a different torque convertor a d1/rrc has a zf4hp22 and a d2/p38 has a zf4hp24 I think form memory the d1 v8 t/c is 4 bolt pattern an d2 is three bolt
V8 Freak
Not only a different TC with different bolt patterns, but different flywheel and space between flywheel and flex plate. I'd also check, but I think the old Disco 1 V8's were hydraulic control where Td5 are electronically controlled gearboxes.... So Td5 has no kick-down cable etc. which probably exists on the D1 V8.... I think it's a veritable minefield....
Bowie69
Yes, D1s were HP22, so no electronics for the box.
sierrafery
In a nutshell: forget about that
