uninformed
Hey all, in the near future I’ll be looking for a full width intercooler for a 300Tdi 110. I was looking at Alisport, but it seems a few blokes here in Aus have had problems with them cracking etc. Is this a known problem with this brand or others. What other brands worth a look? oneandtwo
My two Allisport full width 300tdi ones have been fine, both at least 7 years old. I fitted aircon nosecones as the standard panel rubs agains the intercooler even when trimmed Edited May 16, 2018 by oneandtwo
uninformed
just having a look around , it doesnt seem like too many options for a 300 Tdi?? More reading brought up the "claim" of Chinese made Allisport. Any truth to this? is it the core? This was a recent claim. Articale in 2018, but vehicle was a 2014 and apparently had 2 x allisport split and then went to BAS. But no idea on time frame? Snagger
Cracking could be as much attributed to how it's mounted as to production quality. If the units are bolted rigidly to the chassis or body, any flexing or vibration will be transmitted to the intercooler and it'll suffer. That's why the rad and existing intercooler are mounted in those rubber grommets with plenty of movement. Any company can make a flawed single item, in fact no company is going to get a 100% quality rate, but Allisport have a good reputation, so a systemic issue affecting large numbers of their products, even of just one line, seem unlikely.
