ianmayco68
Hi all , think this might be a bit of a daft question but here goes . Are the front and rear diffs on a defender 90 300tdi the same ? Rover axles .I forgot to mark them when I stripped the project as it never crossed my mind , as when I did the 200tdi 110 it has a Salisbury rear , they look identical but thought I’d check before I explode everything. cheers Ian
miketomcat
Yes however some say they wear differently but I've never had any problems swapping front to rear. Mike
landroversforever
As above, they're the same unit. They can whine a bit if they're put back in a different end though.
ianmayco68
Cheers both , thought they looked identical but needed to check for my own piece of mind . I’ll have to take a chance on the whining as I haven’t got a bloody clue which one went were , if they do will be like having the missus driving round with me. . landroversforever
If you've got a photo of the wear pattern on each one, someone should be able to identify which is which as they'll be worn on different sides of the teeth on the crownwheel.
