Gazzar Posted February 21, 2019 Share Posted February 21, 2019 I've never done a steering relay before. As the rest of the truck is well worn I'm assuming the relay is, too. What normally need doing on these? I can get seals bushes and bearings, but I can't get the shafts new genuine, is it likely to be damaged? Thanks. If you drift the shaft out do so inside a strong canvas bag. The conical split bushes and the surfaces they bear on can wear, as can the splines where the arms attach. I also had issues finding a genuine shaft, not being happy to go with the aftermarket ones and their dubious reputation. Got a new old stock one in the end. Cornish Rattler Posted February 21, 2019 Share Posted February 21, 2019 I often wonder if the Innerd's are the same as a genuine one meaning if they are the same ratio if you no what I mean causing the steering to be either tighter than the genuine one or looser than a genuine one, when I started building up the new galv chassis before I ended up taking the 2a on for my self I originally fitted a BP relay aswell as a few other bits and only this week I ordered a Bearmach one as I've always replaced the relays on my series trucks but with BP ones but I've always been curious with them even after replacing the steering boxes and everything else with the steering system, so i'm hopeing this Bearmach one will help make it better aswell as everything else that's been replaced Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
