henk
So the 2nd alternator I would like to use on my td5 is too big to fit under the upper radiator hose. Are there people here that changed or rerouted this upper hose?
steve200TDi
It looks as if you just need to adjust the radiator hose, as per Gwyn Lewis' instructions. https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/TD5-Twin-Alternator-Mount.pdf I guess it depends on how big your alternator is! western
Have a look at the GwynLewis4x4 fitting info for Td5 dual alternator mount, https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/TD5-Twin-Alternator-Mount.pdf the top hose has some rubber rings around it to help it sit over & away from the top hose. henk
My top hose is bend at the place indicated by the first arrow on page 4 of Gwyns instructions It's a 160Ah alternator so bigger than the 100Ah he uses

Or you may get away with cutting the existing top hose after the first bend as it comes out of the head and fitting a joiner that will extend the hose. Say a piece of steel pipe with flared ends. henk
On a 2.5D this alu piece on the engine has a 90 degree angle and is not straight as on td5 but I guess such piece does not exist?
RedLineMike
@henk allisport make an adaptor piece to push the hose up rather than out from the head, thats how we did it on my td5 when i had a 80A 24v truck alternator fitted

RedLineMike
the right hand piece goes up & over the alternator, the left hand piece goes below it to the thermostat, although i cant remember if you would use that on a front radiator car
