larna86
All, Seeking advice from more experienced members - my synthetic winch line has a good chafe in it - see picture. Is this repairable or do I not need worry? It’s 10mm Dyneema and approx 10yrs old. Thoughts please!
Stellaghost
Split it and re-join it loads of you tube videos on how to do it looks very straight forward regards Stephen
western
At 10 years old, if it was mine it would be replaced with a new rope, I don't even keep my steel winch cables that long.
larna86
Thanks for the responses - will repair it and use as a spare extension, as I had bought a replacement just in case.
miketomcat
It is possible to cut and re splice it however it does create a thicker section in the rope. I've done this with one I snapped. But at ten years old I would seriously consider replacing it and cut it up for extensions etc. Mike

That's exactly what I did. Bought a couple of metal loops for the ends to wrap around, cut out the bad bit (creating a new clean end), then used the splicing technique shown here...
