geoffbeaumont
The panels I bought for the greenhouse were Eco Worthy too - they've performed in line with realistic expectations from their spec and seem to be well made. 1
steve200TDi
Good to know that the Eco-Worthy panels are performing well. As Fridge has said a solar panel and a car battery would do the job. Would you need any charging regulation? I've found this kit on ebay which looks good. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324252236982?itmmeta=01HY0C3BC98MJE5K5D9H7KA6GQ&hash=item4b7ef07cb6:g:s5IAAOSwz9ZmFOZ4&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0N7sckV7iLFzjjcr7oXEebS0LlkqM1pr%2Fe7h40ncphoZop2aGFTg0VqGb1%2Fv0aXbKGukBKuleq63bTmLPOLfqCTJ6atqnr1PBDIjmkxeWaMs8AYu85rq1rZolB3payBsIofIwKip0MxKylZ%2BUs7hPkbhhaKLeGxZ3lcA7vg9957hAVf%2FA5V5ZqkiPsSrEHL41uvHWsus%2BvylALU%2BZppb8rWoUSs%2FrARJF9UR1yHKn2NEnw8dVK5VS45k28c8q3RiACsUmv08UCo5GB1ymT8sHuI%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6S2jYzwYw And if I were to run a couple of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Linkstyle-Interior-Separated-Caravan-Motorhome/dp/B07ZR3JD86/ref=asc_df_B07ZR3JD86/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=427942289984&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2905319773701644490&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045812&hvtargid=pla-914215979719&mcid=a2e19bd3f9213bd6b4bf57ce40aebc07&ref=&adgrpid=99626459956&th=1 The battery is 12v x 8ah = 96wh 96 / (2 x 5w LED lights) = 19.2 hours of light run time before I need a charge and I don't plan of staying in t he shed all night! I then could have the option of taking this system out camping with me if needed to charge phones etc. I think I'm going to go for some of this UV film to try and stop the plastic window degrading and also fading everything inside the shed: Clear UV Window Film (tintfit.com) Steve
FridgeFreezer
You can work it out here and play with options: https://fuddymuckers.co.uk/tools/solarcalc.html
steve200TDi
For the window I found some 6mm plastic on Facebook market place, two large sheets that I thought would be perfect for my shed windows. I finally got it out of the garage and measured it up. I kept the width and just needed to trim the length to meet the framing uprights. I'm fitting it to the outside to minimise water ingress and am adding a thin strip of DPM top and bottom to keep the water out. I will then add finishing strips to frame the window and uprights. I removed the top strip of cladding and added some temporary strips of wood to support the window while I fit it. I then stapled the DPM in place. And fitted the window, I had to trim a couple on inches of one piece and used 450mm from the second. I then could refit the piece of cladding. I've left the protective film on the outside for now. I then could clad up each side and mark out where to cut the top piece. I also did the same for the door side. I added the door finishing strips, these will also be used on all four corners once all the cladding is finished. I could then measure and cut pieces to go up one side, then cut the first long piece over the door and then start from the top the other side of the door and work my way down to the bottom. I then measured up to trim the angled pieces at the top and slid them in. Now it's looking more like a shed! Next job after adding the final piece of cladding above the window will be to make and clad the door. This should then make it fairly water tight and so I should be able to paint the floor and while that drys I can do the finishing touches: the corner strips, a gutter, window finishing.
