Maverik
Can anyone help me identify the correct crimping tool for the "open barrell splice" type crimps as pictured below. Wire sizes 18.5 - 13.5 AWG and 12 - 9 AWG really struggling, I've been using a terminal crimping tool, but its not wide enough to get the whole crimp in so you do half of it at a time, it's a real pain. Thought it would he a good "quick" way for joining wires, turns out it takes me twice as long as what I was doing before.

PaulMc
For open-barrel splice crimps, in the sizes you quote, I use the conductor die on this type of terminal crimper - On most tools of this type, the conductor crimp die is 6mm long. For larger splice crimps, I use tools designed for open-barrel copper lugs -

I've got them from various manufacturers - TE (AMP), Rennsteig, Pressmaster, Hozan, Hero, Engineer, Iwiss, Durite, etc... I've also bought quite a few from AliExpress (which is where the yellow handled ones for open-barrel copper lugs came from) The first one I pictured is a Durite 0-703-50 - available from numerous sellers. Here are some links to AliExpress for the copper lug crimpers - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001251385556.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001907184837.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000283523527.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32846061927.html There are lots of other suppliers on AliExpress for these. .
