02GF74
... that is used to coat the inside of jerry cans? and can it be bought in tiny quantities? I need to restor the edge of the filler on one jerry can, the theeroy being that if the edge is nice and smooth it will give the best seal agaisnt the rubber seal so any suggestion on how to do this? (thinkg of cleaning the steel then putting on some plumbers solder nasd filing it down smooth).
BogMonster
The brown stuff inside most jerry cans is called rust
roguevogue
Don't be ridiculous, if it won't seal on whats there then replace the seal for gods sake! If it is so uneven that it won't seal on a new seal then throw the can away. Buy a seal from Craddocks via ebay.
BogMonster
But if you are going to solder it and it is a petrol jerrycan, best not use a blowlamp
FridgeFreezer
Could be this kinda thing But as has been said, surely a new rubber seal is the way to go?
Orange
In terms of a cost to effort ratio, buy a new can!! They are pennies and if you've got one part that doesn't seal, chances are there isn't a lot of life left in the can!!
