tacr2man
Can any one tell me if the L series diesel is a development of the perkins prima diesel ?
Blippie
Correct. A friend of mine has just dropped one in his series using a conversion kit he discovered in LROi. Cheers Blippie
sheeppimp
so (in theory) the L series could be fitted into a series using the prima conversion plate?
FridgeFreezer
Can we say "Rover 220 Turbo" sir?
sheeppimp
Can we say "Rover 220 Turbo" sir? might be a bit much for the series one though. What I really fancy is a nice light engine - k series v6 maybe
Corrode Finger
Nah, not V6, what about the 1.8 Turbo K series,(as found in late Rover 75's) nice and small and compact! with a hoofing turbo to spin up the back wheels.......... it'll be fine........ honest! FridgeFreezer
Whack a salisbury axle on the back and you're laughing all the way to the roundabout, sideways
Corrode Finger
Going back to the original question though, putting an Lseries or even to a point a later td4 into a series makes alot of sense. Blippie, do you know who it was in LROi that did the conversion plate? Brings up some useful ideas?
sheeppimp
now you're talking tbh a standard tune 1.8 would be enough of a jump in power for sideways games and should save enough weight at the front for a winch without upsetting the balance of the truck. edit: oops sorry about the hijack
FridgeFreezer
Steve Parker (Ltd) does the prima conversions I think. Performance & Precision are another although I think it's SP you need. I like my 1.8K but I'm not sure turbo'ing one is the wisest move?
Blippie
Blippie, do you know who it was in LROi that did the conversion plate? It was an article in LROi last year or maybe 2006, I think, about a transplat for a white Series III. It had a table listing loads of conversion options for different models and who did converstion kits for all of them. Don't have the mag anymore, but FridgeFreezer's suggestions ring bells. Cheers Blip
jules
Whack a salisbury axle on the back and you're laughing all the way to the roundabout, sideways trust me all you need is a solid VC and a Quaff rear LSD and a 200+bhp TD4

I was fascinated by it at Gaydon last year or it could have been the year before..
