Help!

So back right indicator not working

1.no fuses gone

2.bulb not gone

3.not a conection problem with the bulb holder(tired with another bulb)

4.doesnt work on hazzard warning lights either

5.the flasher unit clicks very fast on the right side only. Left side is normal speed- so front right and right side repeater are going really quick but nothing from back right

Its a 1985 90 and it passed its MOT in the last month, and this has just happened.

Any ideas anyone?

im new here btw!

Thanks Sam

It'll be a bad earth for the light holder to body connection. One of the screws through the light holder passes thru' the earth tag and into the body. Clean the copper tag, and use a conductive screw. A stainless steel screw won't give you an earth.

It's quite common. Search for "Lucas the prince of darkness" ;-)

So far I have had the problem you describe many times, but have yet to replace a bulb or fuse. Connectors that are 20+ years old and therefore corroded and clamps less well than when new combined with water is usually the culprit.

Take the offending indicator apart, clean the spade connectors or whatever is used to connect the wire to it and reconnect.

Check to see if there are water or mud in the trailer socket.

Bad earth, find, clean JD :)

Mo

Possibly broken wire between switch and NSR indicator lamp .

To check bulb holder earths I use a testlight with the clip side of the test lamp lead powered up from battery +ve and use the test lamp probe to check bulb holder earthing. If the test lamp lights then your earth at the bulb holder is good.

If you need good quality auto electrical wiring supplies take a look at the product range at http://www.autoelectrics.net/products.html
