Mean Green
My N-reg Discovery has been branded as "not worth fixing". The rear body mounts have collapsed, the cross member is badly corroded and the boot floor is going to need replaced. My local independant specialist (who I trsut and have been using for years) recons that it is not worth fixing - It would be a different story if I could do it myself - but my welding skills are not up to it, I am in the middle of putting an extension on the house and we have another baby on the way. So time is tight! So I have been looking on fleabay and elsewhere to see how much parts are likely to fetch. Can anyone give me advice as to how much I could expect to make breaking it. Unless of course anyone knows of a good condition 300 that need an engine transplant - that might be the other option!
Orgasmic Farmer
Its worth over £300 in scrap if you can get it to a breakers. Unfortunaely you are too far away for most of us... If you are able to remove the engine box axles etc you might realise £7-800 for them if you find a buyer nad still get £150 for the shell and chassis. Your call really. PS what condition is the drivers side sun visor as i need one!!
auf_wiedersehen_pet
Different car but same principle..... I had an F Plate RRC which I had spent a small fortune one, 3.9, sequential LPG, Scorpion Evo Kit, BFG Muds, etc. About 15k in total. Max bid on ebay was 2.7k!!! I chopped it up and sold 3.8k and kept 4.0k worth of bits for my Disco. Took about three weeks of spare time to break.
freeagent
its probably worth about a grand in bits... maybe a bit more if you ebay every switch and bracket... £400 engine £150 each axle £150 gearbox £100 Transfer box ...you get the idea... Mean Green
Thanks forthe answers guys - you have all confirmed what I thought I knew already. So I think breaking is the way to go. Mr Farmer, it does have a very good drivers side sunvisor in grey - in fact with the exception of the driver seat the entire interior is in excellant condition. Even the driver seat is just badly worn.
