Turbocharger Posted September 16, 2008 Share Posted September 16, 2008 I need a 180mm diameter P-clip to hold my new air filter box into the car. Turbocharger Posted September 17, 2008 Author Share Posted September 17, 2008 I think that's a non-starter already since I've not really got room around the back of the engine for the filter box, a P-clip's pushing it so a QF would mean lopping a hole in the bulkhead and putting the filter by the gearstick! clbarclay Posted September 17, 2008 Share Posted September 17, 2008 One of the techniques used at work for holding or holding onto large diameter parts is to use band clamps (AKA jubilee clips etc.) which go around the round part and a tab on the other part. callum Posted September 17, 2008 Share Posted September 17, 2008 you'd probably be best making your own out of flat bar or a strip of sheet. for holding down pipes in my engine bay 54mm dia. i just made my own. bend a tab with a hammer in a vice and then carefully rolled the bar around the object to be clamped. as mine were holding pipes out in space i could tap the flat section for the tightening bolt to thread into. (...well i could have, but i mixed up my drill bit sizes and made the hole too big to tap so had to just use a nut instead) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Can sling them in the car if you are interested....? Or, try Western Hose and industrial - they do rubber lined p clips in all sorts of sizes.
